Take me hunting??? Let me strat by saying I'm a recurve guy first, and have been this way for 30 plus years! I've been messing with longbows for the past several years, hunting with on and off,but always grabbed the curve when the time came to get down right serious! A couple years back I ordered my first custom bow from JD lund, a kijaka stik with both recurve and longbow limbs! I've played around with the longbow and she shot really good, quick, quiet and hit where I was looking! I've taken tons of small game with her, but still grab the curve to hunt deer with!
While praticing for the up-coming season I would grab one or the other each time out, but it seems this longbow has a mind of it's own! Each time I take her out she shoots like I've never seen a bow shoot, less than perfect form- no problem, hits where i'm looking, not the greatest concentration-no problem hit's the spot I want to hit! This thing shoots by it's self I swear!! Well I'm listening to her and she has earned her spot as go to bow this year, and she will get it done for me! I've always had my curves talk to me like this but not this year!
Any of you folks have a bow talk to you like this? ( the wife thinks I need help- I don't!)
I'll add that even after a 30 yard head shot on a garden rading woodchuck with the curve a couple weeks back, I was trying for the eye and hit just below the ear(all luck) But if it was the longbow I trully believe it would have been in the eye!!! I'm just a average shot who gets very lucky sometimes!!!
Fortunatley, I have encountered more than one.
When one does it may be quite challenging to root her out of your mind until you finally relent and procure her.
-no, but I've screamed at some bows. ;)
7 more days and she gets her wish!! We are ready!!!! :jumper: :archer2:
That is where those voices I keep hearing are coming from...... :jumper:
Sounds like a nightmare!!!
if you hear those voices again, get a q tip and, poke em till you cant hear them anymore
Over the years I've had several give me a call. Now at age 70, the thing that yells the loudest for my attention is the candy aisle over at Wal-Mart---those orange slices for a buck a bag just scream every time I walk past their lane.
Yes, a little 56" Roger Hollenbeck 50's style recurve that Tom Kidwell had for sale last year at Denton. Walked past it at the swap meet, did a double-take, and bought it on the spot without even shooting it! Had to hunt him down the next day to thank him for such a great deal. It quickly became my #1 hunting bow. Sometimes you just "know".
