I missed you guys!
its been a while since I have been active on this site, life and my mma career have really taken over, i been lucky enough to get pacific archery to sponsor me and let me continue shooting, anywhoo I am back and determined to take my first big game with my hickory selfbow. so I want yours guys input. I have a 70" 55lb at 28 (my draw) 30" beeman mfx classic arrows with 125 fieldpoint at the moment, total arrow weight is about 510g. these arrows push at 165-170fps, i'm pretty deadly out to 15 yards. the bow is dead silent. I AM DETERMINED! what do you guys think of this set up deer and piggy size wise?
As long as your broadheads hit with your field tips your good to go. A little extra weight wouldn't hurt you, though. Just make sure your arrows are tuned, no matter what weight you choose.
Just so you know, you get some extra mojo if you use hickory shafts with a hickory self bow. :)
Ill give them a shot I want to go with the 10gp rule these arrows shoot incredibly flat coming out of a selfbow :) oh man can't wait for next year!
8 gpp. is more than enough for deer and just shoot the pigs quartering away. I have shot plenty of deer with 8 and 9gpp. I am shooting 52#s at 28.5"s and shooting 460 grain arrow and I am confident it will kill anything I hunt! Good Luck! Shawn
With determination much can be accomplished.
God speed in your endeavor.
