Post by: Mad Dog on September 17, 2011, 11:05:00 PM
Which broadhead would you chose for deer. Bow is d/r longbow 48#s @ 27". Arrow is 3 River trad only carbon 500 @ 280 grns. I have 165 grn simmons 2 blade sharks, 125 & 165 grn 2 blade magnus, and 125 grn 3 blade woodsmans orig and elite. All shoot good out to 30 yds. 25 yds will be my longest shot.

haven't tried sharpening the sharks yet, but the magnus came out better than the woodsman. I am not great at sharpening and need a lot of practice.

All are proven heads that should work well with your setup. I would say sharpening will probably be the deciding factor. If I had to pick one it would be the Magnus.

Thanks guys thats what i thought. I was just worried that the sharks being as wide as they are would have more of a chance of wedging into a bone at light poundage. They are wicked looking though.

Prefer the heavier arrow & bh w/razor sharp 2-blade for penetration advantage.
