I just finished sharpening my heads this evening. Tomorrow afternoon I'll head to my buddy's place in 2B for an evening hunt. I'm from 2C and have never hunted PA so early before, I'm pretty excited about it!
Good luck to everyone hunting the "sides" of PA!
Good luck guys!
I'm heading to the woods for some scouting in the morning.
It's gonna be a long 2 week wait for my neck of the woods.
Good luck everyone! I wish I could fly up to hunt again w/ my dad & uncle in Pa...maybe nxt year. I'm dying to get a deer w/ my recurve to show them up too
First day deer 1 Martin 0
Saw 8 deer. 6 does and 2 fawns this morning.
Tonight only one doe. She was alone.
I won't hunt that spot until Tuesday.
I can't wait.

My little buddy Nate and I saw 3 bucks and 3 does in the AM and 1 Buck and 5 does in the PM but no shots were presented. We had a great day together anyway!!!!! Bobby
Trying it from the ground this year.
Had 3 nice mature does stroll in at 15 yards from my self-blind. They were on high alert all the way in, as the old mature suburban does generally are. But the oldest lead one put her head down, so I thought she had relaxed. I loosed an arrow slightly high but on target and watched in slow motion horror as she dropped her chest nearly to the ground and fletches buzzed the hairs on her back. First time I've ever had a clear "jump the string" and was amazed the reaction time at only 15 yards when none of them had a clue where I was. They busted out and didn't waste time to figure things out... as if they knew the sound of a bow all too well :) I've been hunting for years, but the abilities of whitetails never cease to amaze.
The deer still have their A-game... looks like I need to work a bit to get back to mine! First step will be better string silencers.
Hi guys & good luck. Any of you near new Kensington? My wife has family there. Unless I am wrong I think that area is in 2b. Where else in 2b do you guys hunt?
I think Kensington is in Philadelphia. I know hunting is allowed in parts of Philadelphia. I am in 5c witch is in the far North western suburbs. I really don't like to say I am from Philadelphia but I do know about the area.
Thanks for the well wishing!
Martin
1st evening I shot a doe and saw this buck walk right passed me. My trail camera was on the tree I was in and it took it's photo.

Missed a doe Sat morning. Saw huge buck at night.
martin,
New Kensington is a different place. It is about an hour from Pittsburgh.
Wow, sounds like everyone is starting out seeing plenty o deer. Guess there won't be any complaints of no deer in PA this year.
Never any complaints in the Special Regs area But the rest is mostly devoid . I HOPE to see deer this year .
Never any complaints in the Special Regs area But the rest is mostly devoid
The reason for that is we don't shoot every deer we see. We protect our hunting spot for future hunting.
Our group of three hunted Sat PM. We saw 4 does, 4 bucks, 2 tails, and 1 snort.
Man, it felt good to be deer hunting again!
Daniel,
My bad. I live on the other side of the state and everything is relative to my location. (:

As for me on openning day, I had 6 does and 2 fawns near me. I moved to the right side of the tree I was in for a shot. The deer were on the other side. I was shaking like a leaf. This would be the first deer that I would kill. But is was not to be. The deer heard some noise. I think someone getting ready for a soccer game, by banging their cleats together outside a house where I was hunting. When that happened, they were gone. If I had turned to the otherside of the tree, I would have had a shot. I moved to the wrong side of the tree to begin with...
I hunted the same spot this morning. Cars going up and down the driveway carrying kids to school didn't allow the deer to move the same way the moved on Saturday. And the wind wasn't right.
I think I will try this in the evening in a couple of days.

No problem Martin. I wish I could remember the name of the town they hunted. Lots of deer there.
Craig, where exactly did you get the photos of that buck?  . good luck, hope you get him
