Title: Lodgepole Pine GPI?
Post by: Divinecedar on September 15, 2011, 09:53:00 PM
I recently ordered some 11/32", 50-55 lb. spine Lodgepole Pine shafts and was curious if someone knew how much they should weigh (ballpark grains-per-inch)?

I shoot lodgepole shafts and most of my bare shafts at 32in weigh @400 grains.  I think you will like them if you are a woody shooter.

it's wood, it's organic, and the gpi variances can be absolutely enormous, from low 300's to over 500 per full length raw shaft.  i have nearly 200 32" doug fir raw shafts and the lowest weight (so far!) is 315grs and the heaviest is 521grs.   :)

Compared to cedar you will probably find about 10% heavier weights than the cedar. However, they are much more durable.
