Im thinking of going to the Grizzly Stik Alaskan. Anyone shoot Grizzly stiks? How do you like them?
The old ones were made in America and totally rocked. All of the many folks I know who owned the newer ones made in china gave up on them. Lots of breakage, finish wears off quickly, etc. I have not used the new ones. I refuse to buy anything made in China. I hope ABS has resolved the quality control issues. I sure wouldn't spend that much on arrows to find out. There are tapered American made shafts available for a better price.
I tried them with the intention of taking them to Africa and was pretty displeased. I just couldn't get them to fly. I called ABS about them and they couldn't figure it out either and neither was the offer made to refund my money although to be honest I didn't ask. That was enough to sour me towards the whole idea.
I have some originals, out of the bow i bought them for they shoot to the right about 8" at 20 yards,a 60 pound Super Kodiak. Out of another bow, a Hill style 58 at 26", slightly more center shot than a Hill and a good bit faster, they were perfect. That kind of penetration is over kill on Iowa whitetails.
just my 2 cents the only good ones were the old ones..white or orange label..looked like the old root beer barrel candy in the sun light..
I tried some of the newer ones and found them too delicate.
PCF, Look at the Arrows and Arrow Components - post by Maxwell, looks like GREAT deal on the OLDER Grizzly's. I have gotten bows and arrows from him and always more than fair price. I think his price was $60....
I have never tried them but heard the same thing. The old ones were much better (duh they were made in America) but the new ones are basically junk.
Take a look at the Arrow Dynamics Hammer Heads. American made and I have shot more than a few into wooden fence boards and found them very durable. Great forward weighted tapered shafts!
I have shot the new and old ones and still hunt with them. They (new and old) break very easy and I will be using different arrows after I run out. If I shoot a deer and I don't get a passthrough it will be gauranteed that the arrow will be broken! I usually see them break or crack at the knock end of the arrow. just don't hit anything hard and you will be ok!
Getting ready for deer season, I realized that i have a tapered cedar in my quiver for my mid 50 pound arrows that has killed three deer. It must be fast enough, heavy enough and tough enough to do the job, if it ain't broke keeping shooting it. while a 700 grain tapered carbon certainly has a lot of penetration potential, enough penetration is enough. Personally, I don't like to lob arrows anymore than I already do with my set up.
My friend bought some spined for his 60# bow,could not get them to fly very good.He had me bring some different # bows over,they shot great out of a 42# bow.He returned them and went with another brand shaft.

I have a set that I got about 4 years ago. With the original fletching they shot nice. I have since refletched. The coating on them wanted to come off with every arrow, did not make me happy. So I wrapped them, now I just can not get them to fly right. Now I am on a quick hunt for new arrows, probably go back to the Gold Tip Trad arrow.
