Just finished spraying my bow with flat black, brown and green paint.
I always do this to my go to hunting bows no matter what kinda wood they have.

Looks so much better... :biglaugh:
So from now on its plain jane for me since i cover'em up anyway unless its a really good deal on a used one.
I've alwys thought it to be a shame to cover up beautiful craftmanship with paint, although I have been quilty of it in the past. Try some of the spandex limb covers instead of paint. They are cheap enough, can be used on any of your bows, and you can perserve the value and beauty of the bow. Just a thought.

I agree. I ordered mine through 3 rivers and are great
please don't tell me you painted over a schafer.. :scared: :scared: :biglaugh:
that being said, if it's due to glare i understand. i usually try to have naturally colored woods incorporated into the bow and a nice flat finish.
Ain't NO WAY, Im paintin my Toelke's !!!
I like truck bed linner myself

Now THERE'S an idea!
Killdeer :campfire:
I simply can't imagine doing such a thing to a beautiful bow. But that's me, and it's not my bow. Make it look how you want. But don't expect any offers coming from me if/when you post it in the classified ;)
i couldnt do it
High gloss finish, maybe. But I'll never understand the need to camo a wooden stick with a flat finish in the woods. Kinda like trying to hide a buffalo in a buffalo herd.
md126...nope.
That bedliner thing sounds interesting..
BTW...if its a bow i would sell then no i wouldnt do it.
I just bought some Bob Lee limbs bright white. They were the wgt. I wanted and price so I bought them and painted and clear coated them. Not too fancy but will hunt and not worry about them if they get scratched.Kip

No way, I love the looks of my wood.
Depends on the bow...
You still got that one Mike? Last I heard, you thought it was ugly enough that you'd actually get to keep it. Honestly I wasn't sure if that was going to work out for you or not.
I had a 64" Schafer Silvertip takedown. I had it done up, checkered grip, hand carvings around the grip and around sight window, woods of riser were burled cocobolo with a highly grained snakewood flare. The limb veneers are from a very rare huge piece of amboyna burl. The veneers were not quite long enough so he did a 3/4 limb with the burl and incorporated a piece of reddish phase jungle carpet python into the lower part. The riser had a few polished laminates of the amboyna burl. It was crazy insane almost not real to look at. During a hard time, I had to sell it kinda cheap. The bow cost me over 3000 dollars, I had to dump it for 750.00. I needed the money. The guy I sold it to gave it to his "old school" Dad as a gift. He spray painted it camo flat black and olive green. It "stands" strung on its lower limb in his basement by the woodstove. Sad.
Naw, I'm lyin'.
THAT was funny!
I remember that the late, great Jerry Pierce would spray paint his hunting bows - tools in the woods.
First..plain bows shoot good as purty ones. second...I would noy by an expensive to purty to hunt with bow unless it was at a steal. third...my bows are tools made for killing. Its the whole goal to kill a critter close range and I gotta have my bow looking like it ain`t there and if it takes some paint thats what its gonna get.RC
What RC said.
oh noooooooooooooo. But to each his own
They can be a tool for killing and purty at the same time! Won't be painting mine.
Flat black Krylon for my Morrison 'Honey Boo' limbs.. Too much yellow in them for my tastes.. Not planning on selling them and they are hunted HARD! Deer never once complained... Steve
What RC said . Looks can't kill. Well some could.
Gotta agree with RC.

yep .... me too !!!! ............. I have never had a deer spook that I even thought was caused by not having a camo bow .......... same goes for bright colored feathers ......... my arrows are always crown dipped in white with red or sometimes white cock feathers and natural wild turkey hen feathers :bigsmyl:
Relax everyone, the bow I covered with duplicolor bed linner was made from a busted wheel barrow handle, the riser and limbs both, it had 3 differnt colors of fiberglass on it and trust me it looks better with the bed linner on it.
Yes thomas, I still have it. It's wierd but I've had offers, and I turned them down, I just like that way it shoots. This one isn't going anywhere.
