Title: Morrison Shawnee limb bolts ??? Any ideas
Post by: Froggy on September 10, 2011, 03:00:00 PM
Don't know if possible with the design of the Shawnee limb attachment design, but it sure would be nice to be able to have the option to have a limb bolt that you could disassemble the bow without need for a allen wrench. I think it's possible with some thought. Any ideas or has anybody done it ?. I have asked Bob, he doesn't offer such. With the wealth of knowledga and crafty folks on here, figured might could figure it out. For sure wouldn't want anything big that would throw the looks of the riser off too much.

Thanks

Black Widow makes two limb bolts that don't require allen wrenches: a brass thumb limb bolt and an antler burr limb bolt.  You can see these on their web site under bow accessories.  I had the brass thumb limb bolt for one of my Widows, and tried it to see if it would work on my Shawnee.  It won't work, since it is designed to fit the Widow.  However, it looks like either one could be modified to fit the Shawnee, either by working the brass one on a lathe or by using a brass sleeve under the antler burr one to take up the recessed hole in the Shawnee Riser.

FWIW, I don't use the brass limb bolt on my Widow anymore, since I decided it looks better without it.
