Didn't know quite where to post this pic since it's not a hero shot or a trail cam pic. Our local turkey flock has had to deal with lot of wet weather this week so today, in between showers they decided to dry out on the fence in the front yard. This time next week they are legal game.

I'd pray for more rain and setup about 10 yards from that fence.
Sweet!

Little more rain next week and a shooting lane through the brush.....
WOW, that is a great picture!
GOOD LUCK for next week.
Just made my day, nice shot!
Nice pic,at least you know where they will be.
Great pic. I went out to the stand Sat and the turkeys have started rousting in a dead tree about 15 yards from it.
Set up on one end or the other of the fence and get them ALL with one pass through arrow!!!!!! Wait, there may be some backlash to that strategy, potentially from the Wildlife enforcement folks. Might want to re-think that.
Or pick out a big one and single him out.
Great pic Bill, thanks and good luck next week.
Billy
love that pic and good luck next week.
You know this time next week they will not be there
;)
Cool pic :)
Piggy: We have watched them since they hatched. Two mature females each with 6 young ones. They have managed to keep them all alive all summer. There are 3 big toms that show up on occaision so they are my real targets. As these get larger and the toms don't show up I'll give one of these the opportunity to make Thanksgiving special.
Pretty neat picture Bill.......hope on of the toms shows himself next week.....
David
Nice pic
A few showed today in my backyard Bill...got one pic before they headed for higher ground.

Gotta get me a section of split rail fencing to take with me on my next turkey hunt. :bigsmyl: :archer2:
Dave: I'de be hard pressed to shoot one so early in the season unless is was one of the bigger toms. These guys need another month to fatten up good...unless I get one of the big females. I saw two flocks today checking my hunting area and the polts were very very small. We have one other female that shows up occasionally with her brood of about 6 and they are very young...almost look like they were hatched about a few weeks ago.
Cool pic Bill hope they are still hangin around during turkey season
Now...if these two guys show up next week arrows will be flying (but not a the feeders).

Those sure look like some tasty birds
Good luck
Barkrider: We have about 6 acres...1/2 woods, 1/2 fields and apple trees. They are well fed and on the grill they can't be beat. Well....maybe venison backstraps will give them a run. When the time comes there will be a DB blind up in the woods and a brush blind along the orchard somewhere where they tend to funnel in or out of. Seems a little harsh and unfair to shoot them in the front yard. Sometimes I can sit right on the front porch before they arrive and they will feed 5 yards from me. I just couldn't shoot one that way.
What a great picture of something I have been trying to harvest relentlessaly for 6 years! They always seem to taunt me in the off season, then when its open, their gone..Thanks for sharing the pic, I might put it as my screen saver
That is funny, we were scouting on the local navy base and saw the biggest turkeys either of us have ever seen, I mean they were huge ! Needless to say we will both be turkey hunting next season.
fassettor...I know the feeling. However, since taking one in the Fall of 2009 I have taken another last Fall and another this Spring. Hope the streak continues...and the best advise I can offer is shoot straight. I always got shots but could not connect. Gotta shoot them just like deer...pick a spot not a turkey.

I would like to have one close enough for a shot, thats the problem. :biglaugh: Gotta work on my calling more so I sound more like a hen then a sick duck
My thoughts and prayers will be out for your turkeys, it does not look like the future is looking too bright for a few of them. I wish I had a turkey fence.
Cool Pictures Bill! Good Luck Next Week!
