Just recieved today a longbow from Mad Dog Archery's Mike McCready. We wanted a descent bow to raffle off at our trad shoot this weekend and he suggested we purchase one of these at a discounted price. He said we would like his "Mid-Sized" longbow, so I took him at his word and "let the bread maker bake the bread"! Man was I surprised when I opened the box today! For a somewhat "economically priced" bow, this bow was awesome!! Dainty and nicely made. Green and grey diamondwood , blackglass limbs with maple cores. 59" nock to nock...46# at 28"! This little bow is a SCREAMER!! If I was better at posting pics, I'd have em' up already...perhaps monkeyball will assist here. If you are looking for a GREAT back-up bow to your high priced flagship bow, or like the dulled down hunter model...GET ONE.....TONS and TONS of bang for your buck here! Whoever wins this should be a very happy shooter indeed. Check him out on the sponser list...Mad Dog archery...great guy, great product. Thanx again Mike ....I'll try to get pics asap....john
They are indeed nice bows. I love mine.
Mike is also top notch. Nice to deal with and produces an outstanding product.
I've found that with the QUALITY that Mike puts out, I find it hard for me to part with my money for a higher priced bow. That being said I agree 110% that Mike's bows not only feel great in the hand, but are smooth and really do make an arrow scream!!! :scared: . I will also say that Mike is a class act and one of the MANY talented Bowyers here on TG. Glad you got a good deal on a GREAT bow!
That's why I have 4 mid-sized longbows from him. Great guy to deal w/ and an awsome bow. I even took mine to Africa last month. Took a nice zebra w/ it.
Thanks guys.

Here's a pic of bow and arrows I used

I still say those arrows are too pretty to risk damaging by shooting them at something. Mike, next time you hunt zebra you should try using a zebra print arrow wrap. Just one of those ironic things, you know.
i have been thinking about one. can you get teh mid sized LB is higher weights then 45#? i would want 50# @26"
also do they pinch the fingers at smaller sizes? think maybe a 54" or 56" and i only have a 26" draw. seems like a nice cheap back up bow.
I received one recently and agree they are awesome little bows!! Mike is great to deal with.
I have been making them in the low 50#'s lately.

Check my sig line. I don't own a bow over 54". The one I shot the zebra with is 51" long, 52# @ 26". I draw 26" and I feel no pinch or stacking with any of them.

51" and no pinch, hmm sounds like a nice brush/ turkey set up.

I even shoot my daughters 48" pup longbow. No pinch, but it hits the wall at 26". It is 44# at my draw and shoots well. I may use it this season and see if I can kill something w/ it.
That would be a real hoot if you could kill something with the pink pup.
Well, not the pink one, the cocobola one you made my older daughter
