Seena thread on the *********** about guys having their goldTip nocks breaking during the shot. sounds like its the flourescent colored nocks and not hte solid colored nock.
Anyone have this problem before???
Yes, and it not just the Flourescents but also in solid colors like white (seems to be prone). Me and a friend Kirk were shooting last week and had a white and a flo grren blow on us one caused a semi dry fire :scared:
Yup, I've had one solid white GT nock blow up and cause a dry fire and my son experienced the same thing with one of his flourescent green GT nocks. Both bows apparantly were not damaged but my confidence in GT is gone.
See i've never had any problems with the solid white or yellow in the last 7 years.
Did you guys go with a different brand of nocks?
I have had quite a few break. Mine are the fl. green ones but it sounds like others are bad as well. I ordered some Bohning nocks to replace them.
We switched to Carbon Express nocks. It's only been a couple of weeks so I'll report back if I have any problems with them. Besides the two dry fires from the exploding GT nocks we also experienced MANY broken GT nocks when our arrows hit anything hard (rocks or solid branches). Seems that the force of the impact is transmitted back to the nocks and breaks them off inside the shaft. I guess that was a whole lot better than the impact force damaging my shafts.
Have had about 3 white ones break before I changed them all out.
I switch all mine out with Bohning Signature nocks.I won't shoot any GT nocks.
Good, i thought i was the only one, i have a dozed GT "Nuge" arrows i had to replace all the nocks
I had a FLO clear green one blow up on me last week. before that had had no problem with them at all. this particular arrow I had shot only about 30 times. I have since received 2 dozen blems from Big Jim and plan on replacing all those with Bohning sig nocks. I do like the arrows but it only takes once for me to change them out. At a local sporting goods store in my area. They were selling GT arrows and giving the buyers additional carbon express nocks to replace the GT nocks for this very reason. At least that is what the "bow tech" told me.
I love GT shafts but not the nocks. I keep a deck screw by my target to remove the broken inserted stems. There is a little debris field of white plastic in front of my target. Never had one explode on the string though.
Anybody try Signature nocks?
I think I mentioned that above.I have used 6 or 7 dozen of them.
Thanks guys, bought some Bohning nocks today to put on my new GT's. After reading numerous threads like this, it seems like cheap insurance.
When shooting compound several years ago I had a whole dozen where the nocks were breaking. They were all brittle - like exposed to extreme temps or something. Changed nocks and never had a problem. GT ought to fix this. It doesn't match their slogan "The Toughest Arrow You'll Ever Shoot."
Oh, cool. Thanks Jim.
In a set of 12 new GT 55/75 Trads with black GT nocks shot out of a 58# longbow,4 nocks broke square off at the base of the arrow, and two others cracked one side off, all within the first twenty shots of each arrow. I replaced them with the original Easton Super Nocks (not the 3D model, as they are smaller and less substantial) and no breakage at all after thousands of shots. I am sure that the current GT nocks have a material or design issue.
Mark
Thanks for the info. I have had GTs for a few years without any problems. I am now making up some blems from Big Jim and will switch out the nocks.
I was in such a rush to buy my 5575 blems from Big Jim I didn't check the nock color box and they arrived with flourescent orange instead of my standard white, so I have to buy new nocks anyhow. I'm conditioned to going through lots of nocks so I usually buy 100. Maybe I don't need to do that. So as I type this I'm trying to figure what else I need to justify the shipping...
I put the Easton CB bushings in the arrows and use the Easton G nock. The G nocks are VERY high quality. Don
White ones breaking for me. I'm waiting for KK to send me the Bohning's I ordered. It's been over a week now.......
I have written Gold Tip about my concerns.

Just ordered Bohnings. I have been putting this off for awhile.
Thanks for the post. Rob
Had another one blow out on me today. I'm not shooting anymore until the Bohnings get here.
The GT nocks I've used so far absolutely suck for some reason. I don't remember having those problems shooting them out of a compound. They were solid black nocks then though, these are the flo. green ones.
I had a solid black one give out causing a dry fire (bow was fine...wish I could say the same about my arm!). Have since traded all of em out with Bohning Signature nocks and haven't had any more issues!
Travis
I replace all of my GT shafts nocks with Bohning Signature nocks. I NEVER shoot the GT nocks, don't want to even think about having a dry fire, or bow BLOW UP because of a small inexpensive piece of plastic that can be replaced very easily. Just my $.02.
Have had three dry fires on my Widow with Gt flo's.
Switched to Bohning and results pending.
i wont shoot goldtip arrows any more, i had the same problem out of several dozen. for each 12 i would have to have 3 or 4 dozen nocks. every color i have tried.
I would like to hear Goldtip's reply to your letter Bud. Good to know they are doing something about this....
Yikes! All I shoot is GT. I have not had issues with my nocks breaking but am worried about it now.
Bisch
Scary stuff !!!
I have a bunch turning up this week , but I'll switch out these nocks before I shoot them.
Thanks for the heads up.
I have to say though, the Gold Tips have held up extremely well for me.
I quit shooting them a month ago when 4 out of a dozen broke on the shot. They were fl green. I switched to my Bemans until I get more nocks.
Yup- I posted sometime back here (past months). I too had problems with solid whites and flor breaking. A couple of dry fires. . . ouch!
Going to signature nocks on advice of others.
I personally like 'em. Yes, I've had about a 7-8 break (and yes, I figure that more than half were due to my fault).
If folks want to send their "throw aways / discards" this way... heck, I'll take 'em! I'd love to get more WHITE and Yellow GT nocks.
David
P.S. As long as I have 'em in my box, I'll mail out (on a one for one basis) my unused Easton Super Uni-nocks.
Regards!
I have had nothing but problems with them. I shoot them until they break, then switch them out for super nocks, but I have never had one break during my shot. maybe I will just ditch them right away, so I dont end up needing new limbs when they cause a dry fire.
All I can say is "what can you expect coming from Mexico"?
Troy
Sorry troy, but all carbons except the Arrow dynamics come from other countries.
BigJim
I went to pin nocks on my gt arrows you need to try them...
Never had any break except when i hit them with another arrow. And that's the only arrows i shoot.
um eastons are still made in the usa.i just talked to a rep and i asked why they were being made elsewhere and he said it was all rumors..
When I posted yesterday I had not broken one yet. Ordered Bohnings to be safe. Third shot into my bag target today I had a white one break in the shaft when another arrows fletching rattled it. Not a mark on the nock. These arrows have been shot very little. I'm going to wait for the Bohnings!
I just finished shooting about 20 times. Had one break today that had an arrow penetrate near it. Upon the arrow wiggling as it settled into the target it bumped into another arrow. One side of the white nock wasn't there when I retrieved all the arrows. This was not a robinhood type situation.
I have noticed the ones it happens to most do not fit snugly into the carbon shaft. They fit just tight enough to stay put. Perhaps when the molded nocks cure they shrink a bit too much.
Has anyone bounced this off the GT guys? If all of you that have had nocks blow sent in the nocks to them, they have to look into it. It is easy for the rest of us to shoot an email asking what they intend to do. If we have it, what do wheel shooters do with those powerful thrust forces?
No response to my email yet....
I have had one white and one chartruese GT nock break during the shoot. Not good.
Had another break last night- solid white. They are shearing off right at the shafts. That is about 7 in the last couple of months with 3 dry fires. Been shooting them for about 6 years. Never had the problem until this year. Done now though. Removed them all from all my arrows.
I emailed GT and got a response almost instantly.
the answer I got was the problem was being addressed with new material. Just email their customer service address and they will answer all your questions,
Larry Adams
is this just an issue with new arrows? I bought several last year and have shot a lot, never had one break that was not hit, shooting from bows that draw 71# to 58#.
Hill- if you saw my posts. . . I likewise never had a problem until this year. It has nothing to do with hitting them or accidentally breaking them. . . they just fatigue right where the nock meets the shaft and breaks off upon release.
I am going to signature nocks.
Dan
Fellas, after an attemt to e-mail G/T's customer service and continually getting aggrivating prompts in order to send it, I called instead. The gentleman I spoke to was very helpful and attentive. He instructed me that it was an issue with a former supplier and as early as next week all shafts that leave their facility will do so with a new type. He even made an attempt to send me replacements but as I've not broke but a few dozen I declined.I'll resort to a different brand nock until the old ones have been purged from inventories. Thanks to those of you who notified them action was taken.Best wishes!
I have been shooting Gold Tips for seven years and have never had a nock break unless hit by another attow. Must be something related to newer stock nocks. I am going to replace the nocks as soon as possible to prevent a dry fire.
I've shot them ever since I switched over from aluminum 10 years ago. I've never had a GT nock fail either. I also haven't bought any new shafts in a year or more. Glad I'm stocked up for a while. Hopefully no one gets hurt or damages their bows.
I wrote and got an answer. He says it is isolated in that they had some bad batches. He is willing to replace broken ones. This is an action of a company that will service customers. He gave me a 800 number and I will call on Monday. Stand by for more
Not trying to pick on the service, and I am usually pretty easy going - but this is a pretty extensive issue! Hate to see an honest business struggle, but I would think there should be a recall? This could be serious with broken bows and injuries!

1/1000 ??? I shoot maybe 100 arrows a week and have about a dozen arrows I have been using. 7/12 have broke!! 3 dry fires!! Two different colored nocks! I guess I should have bought a lottery ticket! :bigsmyl: :banghead:
I just bought some nock adapters and glue on nocks from 3 rivers I'm not going to take any chances. Havent had any GT nocks break yet. I like the glue on nocks better dont have to sand my nocks anymore
I just had one break last night. It cracked from the groove, to the bottom of the nock and split in two. Essentially a dry fire. My Robertson seems OK though, thanks goodness.
