I haven't made my own arrows in a few years...I used to use Rogue River for shafts, I don't think they are still around. Are they? Are they still under the same ownership?
If not, who do you guys favor for shafting?
I've ordered the Premium Cedar shafts from Lost Nation and been very happy with them.
Rogue River Archery was bought by Dan Syfert and is now Wapiti Archery. They are using the same equipment to make the shafts. Haven't tried them yet so can't tell you anything about them.
Dan
Thanks guys!
Wapiti archery is equal quality as Rogue River. I have ordered several times from them.
I will 2nd Larry at Lost Nation. Great products, and also great people (both him and his wife)
I think I will give Lost Nation a shot at it....not that my few shafts amount to a hill of beans, but I would like to keep it in Michigan.
Mike, have we ever met? What MP outfit were you in? I was 615th MP Co at Ft Sill, 793rd MP BN in Germany.
Larry is a great guy to buy from!

I met you at this years GLLI at G. Fred's camp when I came over to panhandle some of his coffee.
I was with 259th MP Co. at White Sands Missle Range, NM. Center MP Co. at Ft. Bliss, TX. 142nd MP Co., Seoul Korea, and then 3rd Detachment of the 4th platoon 52nd MP also in Korea. The army really never let mensettle down, but of them all, I would live in NM again in a heartbeat if I could make a living down there.
Roger, Doug Fir is a great alternative to POC these days, it stands up better and you can get higher spine weights in 11/32 than you will get with Cedar and the quality of Doug Fir is outstanding-just a thought.
Surewood is about the best supplier around you can buy direct from them or one of their dealers like Braveheart Archery.
I only shoot wood, and know you will not be disappointed.
I'm the same as Bjorn. I only use Surewood shafts, and so far everyone of them have been carbon straight. That is why I bought 20 dozen 60-65# shafts. I found a great product and I'm sticking with it.
Thats godd info Bjorn and Mike, thanks.
Mike, I'm sorry, now I remember meeting you.....the mosquitoes that day clogged my memory! We need to have a cup one day and talk about the life of a 95Bravo!
Thanks again guys for the information.

You are a new member of the elite Motor City Machete club. Enjoy those and put them to good use. I have no doubt you will.
Paul Jalon sure does make a nice arrow, I have 3 or 4 dozen......I think for this batch I want to put together my own "ugly ducklings'...
Surewoods without a doubt!! Shawn
The Nocking Point has great cedar shafts too and Mike is a super guy to deal with. One of his major selling points is that he only charges actual shipping costs.
Thanks!
Hey Roger, I'm wondering if we're going to have a no carbon rule in camp this year??? ;)
I love my Easton Axis carbons and I'm looking forward to putting Timbo's Trailmaker broadheads through the paces this fall, but I've also been thinking of bringing some Acme Premium shafts with two blade Magnus heads to camp(got the shafts from John Grumley before he passed) for nostalga sake. I also loved Rogue River shafts when I used to get them from Paula and Cecil, and it's good to hear Wapti is still producing same stuff. I've heard good things about Larry at Lost Nation so certainly that's a good option. Also, Shawn Leonard has always had good info, so if he's saying Surewood, probably a good bet too.
Let's talk soon buddy. Camp's not far off.
The Trailmaker on an Axis shaft was just the ticket for me last year, I'm sure I will be using them this year also.
I just have a itch to make a few....
Yessir camp is only a month away....you should start making pies now!

Roger, I just talked with mom the other day and the apples are not ripe yet. As soon as they are, you can bet I'll start practicing making some pies. Of course they're meant to be eaten slightly warm, so I'll practice eating them too. :biglaugh:
