I was contemplating what to skin this Howatt with, and skeptically decided on a pair of Arizona Mojave rattlesnakes. They were HEAVILY salted so it took some soaking and work to get them ready, and I didn't get to see the true color through all the salt. They looked to be more brownish, and I thought that would match the brown riser nicely.
Once clean and ready, they showed their true colors...a greenish gray. I was totally surprised by the end result, but I really like the look of it.
Just wondering what you guys think? I use a lot of skins, but this is the first time I've had a complete opposite result from what I was going for....I know not everybody likes skins, so feel free to chime in if you don't like 'em. Just felt like sharin with the trad gang. Kinda bored tonight.

My next choice were these diamondback watersnakes...

Ummmmm....WOW!
That turned out sweet David! David skinned one of my bows for me (Medusa) and his work speaks for itself!
Makes me want to skin another bow...
Truly awesome!
that looks nice, you did a fine job.
How's she shooting JL? I never got to see it strung up...
Looks real good to me.
I also must say that if any of you are looking for skins David is the man. I recently bought a set of ball pythons from him after searching like forever and they were perfect, absolutely perfect. Came in quickly too.
Ask and you shall receive brother...
David skinned this rocket launcher with diamondback water snake skins and added a few extra touches. He does outstanding work...

I was messin around with some 2016's today and she shot clear over the 3D deer target on down into the woods. She's a flat shootin rig, I'll tell you that and pretty sporty lookin to boot!
JL
Thanks Izzy, cant wait to see the finished product..
They really set the bow off nice, looks great!!
The skins came out great, :saywhat: ..I do think the watersnakes may have looked better with that bow. :bigsmyl:
Yeah, me too. The browns were the color I was shooting for.
That is SWEEET.

Looks great, great job! I like it,really dressed up your bow!
Maybe it's just me but I like the contrast between the skins and the bow woods. Looks classy...

I know this aint no how to forum but you do a nice job and I'de sure like to know what adhesive you use and top coat.Very well done!
Sweet looking skins YORNOC!
I'm with JL, I love the contrast. Looks good.
I have the same bow, and I am not a huge fan of snakeskins, but that is SWEET! Now you got me thinking I should do mine. Wanna sell the Diamondbacks? Or maybe some copperhead would look good with the red hues of the Howatt. Thanks for the idea!
Nice job !
I think the contrast is sharp. I understand the brown theme you were going for though. I don't think I could make up my mind if I had to choose...
Now I definitely want to skin my Treadway....hmmmm.
Looks great!!!
Great work David. Turned out real nice!
Thanks everybody. Glad I planted the "seed" for a few. Snakes and bows go like PB & J.
I think that looks really nice!
Very nice work David.
I like it me too David since Diamonback are my favourites.
I love it. I think snake skin is the best camo there is and still looks classy.
Nice job David. Sent you a PM.
