How many would use a creek as a way to and from your stand ? In a way I would be coming in the back door. I'm almost positive from the heavy deer run and thick cover. It's a run to or from their beds. Rub line all along the creek bank.

I use creeks to get to a bunch of my hunting spots. Less scent, less of me visible, usally less sound.
Some of the spots I hunt look like a jungle but a few hundred yards up the creek they open up. Cuts down on hunting pressure.
On hot early season days I roll my pants up and wear some croc looking shoes my wife bought me. When I get to the stand I put my boots on. Keeps me a bunch cooler.

I do it every year but have to use a boat due to deap water. By doing this I can get into my stand and not disturb anything in the area. I don't know how many times while floating down to my stand I can see deer outlines on the banks.

That's what I'm thinking less sent. Plus not disturbing anything in the area. Not a real deep creek have to negotiate some areas. This area is at the back of the farm. Most everyone that has permission to hunt. Comes in right across the field to get to the woods. This year I'll be using the creek.

I've done it, Mike. One spot I hunted regularly I reached by john boat, tying off the boat where a small creek entered the river and walking the creek before daylight to my stand. Killed several deer that way.

Mike, I killed over 30 deer from one stand that I accessed from a creek. It was an old pasture that was so badly over grown with wildrose that it was impossible to get into any other way. I stashed a pair of chest waders at a bridge about a half mile from my stand. I would put them on and walk the creek all the way to the tree that held my stand. The tree was right on the creek edge and all I did was cut out some shooting lanes and made a path from the heavy cover to the creek, the deer began using this as a crossing and I kept it cleared every year for 10-12 years. Shot 3 bucks and a doe from that stand in one day, way back when. The tree is still there but someone bought the property and cleared the pasture but I may give it a go again this year as I have a feeling they may be using the crossing again!! Shawn

Some areas are as you describe. Have some good trees by a sandbar there using for a crossing.
