It was a short elk season for me this year. Shot this 5x5 opening day. It was hot and the elk were not talking yet so I decided to sit a water hole. He came in right before dark to about 12 yards and I made the easy shot. He ran about 15 yards after the shot and I cow called, he stopped and flipped over backwards tumbling about 5 yards from where I shot him. I love blood trailing but I didn't complain. I shot him with my Cascade Brush Hawk, cedar arrows from Elite Arrows and 145grain 2 blade Eclipse heads.

Way to go Jesse, I think you are the first person to shoot an elk with a Cascade Brush Hawk. Good job. I hope to have some luck next week.

HI Jesse,
Very good news and thank you for sharing ! Not getting much of a chance to get out yet but enjoying reading about everyone's successful hunts (with or without filling tags).
I love the camp set up. Reminds me of the snake thread from a month or two back. I wouldn't imagine that set up in snake country. :) Congrats on the elk. Always a great accomplishment.
