I just got back from Ontario. Seven of my buddies and I all went up to do some black bear hunting. On Sunday, the 21st, at about 7:40pm (Canada time) I shot my first ever big game animal with my longbow. My bear was a sow that weighed 185 lbs.

The bow was built by me and my buddy, John, and this was the first animal taken with it. As awesome as all that is, the icing on the cake is that I got the whole thing on video. Here's that video. Let me know what you guys think. TRW

Great video and even greater...the fulfillment of a consumate achievement.
Congrats!
Awesome Tim, Congrats on your first big game kill. Nice video.
Never killed a bear, I bet thats a great hunt. Good work.
Thanks guys, I'm glad you enjoyed it. We hunted with Doug Park who owns and operates Wolf River Bear Baits out of Dorion, Ontario. The eight of us had plenty of bait sites that were getting hit regular. Everyone in our group had opportunities at bears with four of us filling our tags (one of us killed a 340lb. monster with a "pumpkin" that Doug said would make the book). It was an amazing trip made even more so by the great group of guys I went with. Truly one that I'll remember for the rest of my life. TRW
Very cool!!
A big congrats on your first and you got it on video too...nice!!
Thats great to have your first on video. Congratulations!
Nice bear, congrats!!
Congrats, fella
I'm jealous of the amount of bears and large game that a lot of you guys have, especially in the Northwest.
I need to track down a bear here in Arkansas, but they aren't all that plentiful. I have seen about two tracks on the farm in the last ten or so years, but I haven't seen any in person.
My dad claims there is a bear that he saw eating his pears out of his tree, but it must have been small because the branches aren't thick and I'd imagine they'd have given way for an adult bear.
Great first kill, congratulations!
What broadhead were you using and what did the recovery tell you about your shot? Where did you hit her at and what vitals did you take out? :campfire:
Where do you live at in Missouri?
Congrats! Looked like a great shot.
Congrats!
Bisch
Congrats! Good video too.
Nice job and congrats!!!
Congrats!!
Hey Gatekeeper, I used a Magnus 125 gr. two-blade broadhead. The recovery was short in distance but long on time due to the ridiculously thick vegetation. It looked like I took out the liver and the off-side lung, she went a little less than 100 yards.
I live in Florissant, Mo. Where's Camden point? TRW
Great job on the bear and the video.
Thanks for sharing.
God bless,Mudd
Good stuff
That was FANTASTIC!!

Thanks for the reply. Camden Point is 6 miles north of Platte City along I29. We live about 35 miles north of downtown KC.
