Nice pics...........where in UT were you hunting?
-
This batch of photos is nice too. Loved the photo shot of your bow.
-
I'm going to stop reading any post with elk in the title. It's not healthy to be so jealous. :biglaugh: Great pics!
-
Thanks!, That is the South Cache unit. Between Hardware Ranch and Bear lake. Next year I may end up back in the Idaho Pan Handle. The S. Cache unit was really loaded with bow hunters.

I was kinda thinking what the %^&$ I didn't know beavers could climb trees.
I guess they did that over the winter, gives you an idea how deep the snow got.

Man I can hardly concentrate on the landscape with that beautiful bow in the picture!

Greg builds an awesome bow, it shoots as good as it looks.

Mark,
It seems that all of Utah is loaded with hunters, that's why I moved to Idaho. Did you see any elk at the pond?

Glad I wasn't the only one who noticed. I was hunting in Cache/Rich and it was like a zoo.
It was actually worse than the rifle hunt. I mean it too, WORSE than the rifle hunt!
-
Yea, it really was a zoo! More like an Elk drive than an Elk hunt.
I did get into them and I did have fun but I'll be Elk hunting Idaho next year.
Greg,
No Elk at that pond but it seems most people were hunting at the water holes, there was lots of water this year and still several people at every water hole I could find.
are you Elk hunting when you go north in Sept?
-
Mark, what are the specs and what is the name of that fine looking bow mate?
-
Mark,
This weekend I'm picking up tags for deer, elk, bear, wolf, and turkey. I'll probably spend as much time fishing as hunting so It's unlikely that I'll punch a tag this year.

Hey Al,
That bow was made for me by a friend, (Greg in Malad) we did a bow swap. It is 64" NTN 53lbs@26", R/D. It is Honduran Rosewood and Maple in the riser, Maple limb cores with walnut veneers accented with curly Maple on the outer end of the veneer. Not sure if I showed that in the pictures.
This is easily one of the best shooting Long bows I have shot. Greg does fantastic work. I think the form came from another member here Greg may have made a small modification or two.
Hope this helps. Here are a few more pictures.
Take care.

Were the trees chewed by beavers for their dam / nest?
Cheers
-
Well, fair-dinkum! That is most interesting, the way those trees got felled.
-
As near as I can tell they must have been cut when the snow was 6ft deep.
Notice how all the trees are lying in the same direction, when I worked in the woods logging(hooking)that was a good thing to see. It meant the guy sawing in front of you knew what he was doing.
