I have heard of guys who do this by dropping the seat real low.  I never could get comfortable with that and could not shoot with the bar.  I now own a Summit Open Shot hand climber and like it.

If you can, before you buy, find someone who has a climber with a bar and try it in the yard.  I have heard it can work for some guys.  Wish I were one.

I have and LOVE my summit bushmaster(open front). It is an older model, but maybe you can check it's availability at their website, or other places.
I have yet to personally see an openshot, but I want to. My next climber will be a summit, or an X-1 stand. Both seem to offer light weights and secure climbing.

I've got a Summit Viper SS, the only time I have trouble with the bar is for shots under 5 yards or so.Which is OK for the most part as I don't really care for that steep of a shot angle anyhow.

I'm shooting a 60" recurve FWIW.

I have an older Summit, I think it is a viper. It has an open front and has not given me any issues so far, plus it is a bit lighter to carry.  cant leave stands in the woods around here, they grow legs!!!

I have the summitt razor sit and climb and the bar folds out of the way when I get up the tree. Nothing better for a longbow.
