Shooting bows from 44 to 51 @ 28". Should I start with 500 spine and 100 grain inserts or go with a 600 and 50 or 100 grain inserts. Looking for the best starting point. Have some Goldtip 500's with 100 grain inserts. Seem to be on the edge of being stiff. I want to shoot 125 grain Ace broadheads so adding more point weight would require some steel screw in inserts, for the Ace heads. I have some alum screw in inserts for the Ace broadheads. I shoot exactly the same weight range bows and I shoot the 500 series arrows with 125 grain points and the standard aluminum insert and they shoot GREAT!!!.........jackdaw
i use 500 spine for that range myself
It's close.
I shoot 43# @29 and shoot a 600 with 75 gr insert and 125 gr head.
My brother shoots 45# @29 and shoots a 500 with 50 gr insert and 125 gr head.
Both set ups fly well. If you want to shoot heavy broadheads, probably go with a 500.

my bow is 47# at 26" my draw is 26" and i use full length gt spine 500 with a 50gr insert and 200 gr tip. bareshafts are slightly to the right of the fletched shafts which i wanted. works for me. couldnt really get the weight i wanted with 600 spine arrows unless i used weight tubes and i dont want to use them
I have a 45@28 and my draw is 30. I use 500's with aluminum inserts and a 85 gr tip. I am very happy with this set up.
I draw 27". I use 28" 500's with the 100gr insert and 200gr BH.
I'm shooting a 44# BW PSAV and I draw 28".I'm shooting a 29" Easton Epic 600 with 145gr fp and 150gr broadheads.I could use a 500 spine but it would probably have to be full length or close to it.My fletched arrows fly like darts and the bareshaft flies perfect.I think anything over 45-46lbs would do better with a 500 but if you will be staying at 45lbs or less a 600 is a great shaft for that draw weight.

I have a 45@29 hybride longbow and my drawlenght is 29. I use Goldtip traditional 3555 with a 100 grains tip and standard insert. They fly great.
For the .500s you already have, you could try some gt brass weights or steel pdp inserts that screw into the rear of the standard gt aluminum inserts, to weaken the spine a tad.
While you could probably make both spines work, at some length and finished weight, I would say choosing between a .500 or .600 could also depend on your draw length, and/or whether you desire a longer or shorter arrow.
Thanks for all the help. I ordered some Goldtip 3555 (500 spine) and 100 grain points. Also got some Easton CB bushings for some Easton G nocks. Will try the alum inserts and the 100 gr.brass. Will fletch them 4 fletch 4 inch. Thanks again, Don
Yep I think the 500's will be better than the 600's for those weights as a whole.
I would go with the 500's
The 600s will shoot very fast and well out of those bows with 50gr. inserts and 125 gr. points but the 500s will be a little heavier. I use the 1535s for 3-D and 45# bows and the 3555s for hunting out of 50# bows.
