I really never was much of a fan of trail cameras. I never really wanted to know what was out there going to walk by. I liked the element of suprise.
Last year someone stole a 2 man stand that my son and I hunted out of togather. He is 8 and is ate up with shooting his longbow and everything else that he can do outdoors.
With the stand being stolen on private property I came across a little wild game innovation trail camera for $37 at walmart. I really only put it out to catch pictures of people trespassing but since have enjoyed the pictures. It has only been out for 2 days and I checked it today to verify that it was working. Here are a couple pics. Pretty good for a little 1.3 MP.

I didn't think I'd like 'em either, but they get addicting.Especially in the off season. It's kinda like running a trap line; can't wait to see what you've "caught"!
I was really not wanting one either. I put one up last year and Have really had alot of fun with it.
My brother had a series of photos of at first a dog, then a fella with a hard hat and light on it. Should have seen the expression on that coon hunters face when he went running by!
Never know what'll show up on a trail cam! If nothing useful at all, they are entertaining if you enjoy just watching wildlife. We have just about named a herd of deer. Kinda like our own "Meercat manor" if ya know what I mean.
They are addictive. Kinda like trappin for those of you that of done that.
This post makes me wonder if they might be something I'd enjoy also.
Thanks for showing me something that might be fun.
God bless,Mudd
And I see a brushed in ground blind back along that field too if I am not mistaken. I need to get me one of them cameras someday. Nice going so far.
shoot i love em almost as much fun as hunting
They are addicting. No doubt about it. Nice pics.
I bought two last year for the first time and had fun with them. Even captured two nice bucks I didn't know were on the property.
This year though I didn't even put them out.
My problem with trail cameras is my hunting area is a three and a half hour drive from home. Can't get there to check it very often. Being a public hunting area, it probably wouldn't be there when I did get back to check it.
they are a ton of fun, ive been using them since they were still 35mm and having to develope film. Always excited to see what shows up next!!

Yeah, even for the low cost one like I am using I am enjoying it.

I believe they make some now that will send the picture to your email via satellite. Maybe a little pricey though.
but hey a 2 mb card will store over 2k pictures. Just use a 6 volt battery atachment for long battery life.
I personally will not use mine to
scout "good hunting spots", but I am enjoying seeing what walks by in the small fields I am creating for the critters. It gives me good reasons to keep working the property as hard as I do.

jamesh76 ,
Those are nice pictures from a $37 dollar trail cam. I've got a Wal-Mart 12 miles from me. What is the name brand of the camera?
It is the wildgame innovations s1.3 digital scouting cameral. The packaging is black and grey.
My only concern for it is battery life. I am not sure how long a set of 4 will last. I use the rayovacs. I put fresh batterys in it last time out and will check their life when I get pictures in a week.
Things to consider.
The flash at night is not so desirable. You can see what is there though if you zoom in.
I called Wild Game and asked about the night/day setting. I was told that the night setting is 5pm to 7am and the day was 7am to 5pm. I have mine set for 24 hours.

Great analogy Shane.
jamesh76,
Thanks for the reply back on the brand name. I can use one of these cams. I'll have to mosey on down to Wal-Mart later this week and pick one up.
Mine helped identify the garbage can raider at our house--a raccoon I named "Ruckus". The deer pix are fun, too. Trouble is, now I want one that takes better pictures than the cheapo Moultries I bought last year. This is not headed in a good direction...... :help:

Thanks!
For $37.00 It's well worth it especially if you can catch that thief...Then He can pay for it! Looks like you got it set up on a one man blind in that first pic...Good thinking there...
yeah, I wanted to get it in view since it is right there more less in the open.
I have four of the Wildgame IR4 cameras and I really like them. A set of 4-C batteries lasted all hunting season and into the winter on mine last year. I think I payed around $59.00ea for mine last year.
Kevin,
Do you have a couple pictures with that camera that you would like to share? I want to compare the quality of pictures.
What type of batteries do you use?
What is your picture settings? Day/Night/ 24 hour? 30 minute/1 minute or what interval for the pictures?
Looks like you have it in a good spot! I love checking mine.
