seems like all these bows have the similair forward riser design. how do they compare for those who have shot them? would like to add another bow in the future and want to try this design out. thanks
also what others bows have this design and have the 58" option? think i may save and see if i can try some out at denton next summer
Bamabows expedition. My son has one and it shoots extremely well. Fast and no handshock. It is a 50@28, 58 inch.
Lately I've been looking at the Dwyer Endeavor. Seems to have very positive reviews.
I have no experience with hybrids, but I doubt you'd go wrong with any of those mentioned.
i already have a really nice hybrid. just keep hearing all the raves about these 3 bows and curious
I've owned all three.As to which one is better,your just going to be splitting hairs.there all fantastic.It will boil down to your own personnal preferances.as far as Quality and the way they shoot,you won't go wrong with any of those.

I've had a few Shrews and a Kanati but never a Thunderchild... The ones I have owned have been great bows, especially the Kanati at its lower price.
However, I think you may have overlooked the "Jewell of the Hi-breds" when not considering the Griffin by John Mc Collough... John's bows show exceptional craftsmanship and performance and I have seen them offered in a 58" length.
Another you may want ot explore some is the NEW "Brush Hawk" by Steve Gore and "Cascade Archery"?
I have not owned one, but have several friends here in the Pacific NW [ where Steve and his bows ave a great following ] Who either have them or have one on order or on their "short list" of bows to buy...
His build time is very short... I think in the 4-6 month range and they are in the $500-600 price range.
Do a search for them here and I think you'll get some great input from TGr's especially "Blackhawk" as I konw he loves his and I think Jessie Minish is also shooting one?

I think what Steve said is a pretty accurate statement.All are excellant.I had one 60" Kanati and it was an excellant all around shooter.I have had 5 or so Shrews.I like the 60 inch model at my longer draw.A 58" would be a good choice for 28 inches or so.Shrew bows now offer the 62 incher in the Super Shrew model.I bet that would be a sweet bow.The risers on the Super Shrew and Kanati are around 16 inches I believe
The Shrew Classic Hunter has a 12 inch riser and so does the Thunderchild.That gives you a bit more limb in a short bow.So it works well for me in spite of the short length.I had a 56 inch Classic Hunter and it was a great bow.I currantly have a 56 inch Thunderchild and really enjoy shooting it.I have not shot the 58 incher.But is seems like it would be very smooth and a tad less pinch probably.The Thunderchild is a unique bow with an excellant design.So is the Shrew Classic hunter.
well im a short draw and like 58" the best so far. had a 66" hybrid, 60" recurve, 52" recurve, 56" longbow, 64" longbow and now my 58" which feels the best.
i have nothing but good things to say about my bow idaho curt made me, its AWSOME. just want a back up bow and something i can take around the woods and not worry as much about (plus its always nice getting a new bow). think i just want a plan black glass bow 58"
I have a Super Shrew Samarui 58" 53@28. I love it. I haven't shot the others but can vouch for the Shrew.
I have a Kanati coming in February. You live pretty close to me so you're welcome to try it. I also have a Griffin which will give you a good idea of what a Super Shrew feels like. John McCullough was the original bowyer that made the Shrews for Ron LaClair, and the Griffin is a copy of the Shrew as I understand it.

I have a Thunderchild and had a Super Shrew. They are both outstanding and very similar with the biggest difference being the grip with the shrew being smaller. I shot both grips well. The Shrew was a one piece and the Big Jim a takedown. I kept the Thunderchild as it was a better weight for me and a takedown. If I were looking for that type of bow, I would not hesitate on the first one I found that was close to what I was looking for.

Though the Griffin and the Shrew are similar in appearance, the limb design and the grip are different. The Shrew Classic Hunter especially is not like anything John is currently making.
Noone has mentioned a Thunderhorn. Duane makes the perfect 58" bow, if u ask me.
You might want to look at the Cari-Bow Wolverine, it's the same style and is 58". I have the 60" Lynx and like it very much. Abe has been making a great bow for a long time. Can't go wrong with a Cari-Bow RW
I must admit I have an affinity to buy from the originator of a design.
Here another vote for Caribow,I shoot a Peregrine and that is were wyy search ended. Uhhh, that is.... maybe a 2nd one... or will it be a silver-fox.... ?
