OK I thought I was semi intelligent but I just don't understand. I got my new bow and the sting has stretched some. My boyer said I should keep the brace height at 7 ¾ and 8 ¼. It was at 7 ¼ So I unstrung the bow and tightened the sting by turning it in the same direction as the twists. When I measured the brace height it was even shorter. So I unstrung the bow and went in the opposite direction 10 turns past where I was before and now I am at 8. I just don't get it. Will someone explain how the longer string made the brace height longer? I should mention I have a T/D recurve.

If your brace height went up to 8 then you shortened the string.
Next time you twist the string, hold just below the loop and site across that loop to some reference point on a wall and watch as you twist....it will either go above or below your reference point as you twist. Going below is shortening obviously.
you know i would of thought turning it in the same direction as the twist would of made it shorter. It didnt I will try what you said when i put the next sting on.

Turning in the same direction of the twist untwists the string, makes it longer giving you a lower brace height. To shorten the string, and increase the brace height, you need to turn it against the existing twist. That's what you ended up doing, of course.
