I decided to try Arrow dynamics Hammerheads out of my very fast 55# Shrew longbow. I have a 28" draw and usually cut my MFX 400 at 29 and 1/4 with about 300gr upfront including insert. I hear that I should not be worrying about any of this with AD's, and that I should just cut them to length, add whatever weight, between 200 and 300gr upfront, and that they'll fly great because of the taper and footed front. Any input would be greatly appreciated... :coffee:
If you are not using the lites I would start off leaving them full length and go from there just in case.
I shoot these arrow. You'll love em!
I shoot my AD Trads out of a 64# R/D and GN 64# Critter Gitter. I have a 28 1/2" draw. I only cut 1" off the point end. I can shoot point wieghts from 145 up to 300 grains no problem. I also have one that is 29 1/2" and it flys great too! They are easy to tune, you are going to love them.
can't ask for a tougher arrow, i have the 100 grain brass insert glued in then put a 125 or 145 grain broadhead up front and they fly great. shooting the trad lites.
I agree with tenbrook. If you don't know already, with the stock aluminum insert and a 300 gr point up front, a full-length Hammerhead will weigh around 800 grains. I shoot them full length, with up to a 200 grain point out of a 55@28 r/d bow, but I pull it to 64#@31".
