I posted this under a thread on Blacktail bows but thought I would ask all in the general forum.
Question for all those that own one. What type of case do you have for yours? I would like a hard case, airline approved. I plan to ship it home before I redeploy so I can hunt grizz with it next spring.
Have you looked at Pelican cases. They are a little heavy, but are bomb proof.
I have a 1 piece 62" recurve, and I'm flying to Colorado. At this point, I'm only shooting 1 piece curves. I purchased a 3 rivers 1 piece deluxe recurve case which fits two curves, but wasnt completely sure it could survive the airline gorillas, so I went bomb proof, by putting the 3R case inside a slightly modified jumbo bazooka fishing rod case. Double hardcase protected. It gives me a piece of mind.
I don't have a hard case for any of my TDs. I have lots of softcases which I wouldn't use alone on airlines. I have put TDs in softcases and simply buried in my clothing inside hardcase luggage.
I'd like to get a Pelican case though. They are salty dogs and attract attention by unsavories.
Get an airline approved T/D shotgun case. Depending on your arrow length, they can fit inside too if you remove some foam.
I have a 3 rivers 1 piece deluxe recurve case. I can put two in there. never had a issue yet.
I have a Widow hard case and and SKB hard case. But I only use them locally. For trips I put my bows in my luggage.
Deleted since my case isn't airline safe.
