Seam on the tip of my current stringer is starting to come loose. I can sew, but I'm also looking for a back-up and alternative types.. Can you let me know what you use and prefer, and why? Any experiences, good or bad, with the OMP stringer? I shoot RD longbows, middle 40's# at 29 ", bows 62" to 66" in length, FWIW. Thanks!

I use a Selway limbsaver. The cup has a snug fit so I don't have to worry about the bottom limb slipping out. Have no experience with the OMP.
-
I prefer the push pull method and string all my long bows by hand unless we are talking 60+ pounds.
i do use a stringer on my RC bows, and recommend doing so on all recurve bows. my favorite is the selway limb saver stringer. 3 rivers carry them.

No stringer on long bows, just recurves. Push Pull on LB's.
-
My fav for longbows is the Webster. But I see a new one on 3R called the Flex pro that looks nice too.

I've used the Selway for the last year on my RD and D and it works just fine. I just got a cheapie from Lost Nation called a Vista. Even though it's not nearly as nice, it has cups at both ends which I prefer. I use both Selway and Neet on my recurve and don't really have a strong preference. Oh if you buy a Vista, retie both ends before you use it with something like a bowline otherwise it could come apart on you.

I like the one from Black Widow, it has the large leather pocket on the bottom and a smaller leather pocket for the top limb. no sliding the strap forward like on the other styles of stringers, just put both limbs in the pockets and step on string and pull. you can check it out on their website

Selway BW, or push pull, if i forget my stringer... :)

I use Bearpaw Universal stringer. May be not the best one, but works fine.
-
The one from Alaska Bowhunting Supply--

I like the Bear Paw also. Selway is great but I like the leather on the upper limb part of Bear Paw better. Did not care for the Flex Pro.
-
I use a Black Widow stringer for my longbows and recurves. I try and have one for each style bow.

Like a fool........I lost my stringer that Horner gave me up at Comptons this year. I, very promptly went to the Dwyer booth and bought me another one.......just like it. This has been the BEST stringer that I have ever used for both recurve and longbows. I have yet to find a bow with tips so small that I couldn't string it with.

Another vote for Selway. Push/pull if I forget it.

I like the bear paw recurve stringer that Kustom King carries.I use them on both recurves and longbows.I like them so much I buy them by the 100.That way I never run out. :D

I use the Flex Pro.

Webster- folds up nice and neat.

I like the Thunderhorn bowstringer alot. The lower leather pocket actually tightens on the limb tips as you start to apply pressure. This keeps the loop on end of bowstring from slipping of the string grooves. It works on recurves just as well and is very well made and strong.
It uses a pressure pad on the upper limb made of rubber and shaped like an arrowhead.Great all around stringer!

I just make my own. Easy enough to make and can make a few for spares in about an hour's time

I use push/pull but own a selway, I use it when I've made a new string and am adjusting it, never bring it hunting
-
"What's your favorite stringer for a LB?"
my right foot and my left hand. :)
but, some stick bows absolutely require a stringer and for that i use a home made one with leather limb tip cups and parachute cord.

Webster is the best I have ever used.

A string bikini top!!!!
-
X2 for the selway. I do have a back-up stringer but this one looks like it should last a long time.
