Getting close to that time!! A couple weeks from now and I'll be ready to rile up the critters.
I love using this method and have had great results. A mock scrape can turn into a social network site for deer once it's up and going. ;)
My favorite scent to use is Scrape Plus made by Outdoor Success. Has a slight earth smell and doesn't have that pungent amonia stench. Good stuff!!
Favorite location is a pinch point at the base of a small ridge that borders a cattail marsh or a morning travel route to the bedding area.
What do you all do and whats you favorite method?
Getting excited, let me see some of your scrapes!!
Here are a couple scrapes that got hit pretty good last fall.

Here is a video from 2009 and a big doe that was using the scrape I had made.

I like using them. Done it many times in the past. I was told that the bucks were investigating new smells, didn't have anything to do with the actually scent or lure. Bucks were looking for the mock deer that made the mock scrape. I do have some homemade lure I will try to pull dim witted deer within range this year.
I tried them in the past but didnt have any luck , I do better hunting around natural scrapes and let nature take it course. I do like trying diffrent things though so i may have to give it another try .
I use them, especially for trailcam photos. I just clear the ground under an overhanging branch and pee in it myself. I've had bucks work it within 4 hours...
I have also dug dirt from scrapes a few miles away and cut the overhanging branch and zip tied to a mock scrape site somewhere else.
Both methods work equally well. It's more about location location location...
i will be tryin them this year, plan on using drippers in thick grown up clear cuts where deer feel comfy and other hunter wont find them.
Already found some natural ones in use last weekend. Unless some other hunter is mocking me, that is. They're small right now, and they were last year too during the opening week of the season, until I "freshened" them on the way to my stand one afternoon. By the next morning, they were 3' wide! Saw a good 8 visit it one day, but he wasn't interested in coming closer to my stand. Hoping he does the same thing this year, as I've picked out another stand that would intercept him.
