I have a bear super grizzly with fascor that a guy gave me back in the early 80's . Does anyone have any info as to what year this bow was made. the coin is raised (not flush with the surface of the bow). I'm thinking 1970 ???? Is this a fairly common bow ?? It is a 45 # draw weight.
Thanks
Neal
Neal,
Depends on the color as to how common it is. They are not considered rare, but the blue/white and the green ones are not as common as the brown. I believe the bow you are describing is mid 1970's (1973 or later).
What color? Can you post a pic? I have never shot one but I hear they are solid performing bows.
Thanks This bow is black with a red stripe thru the riser.A real nice looking bow. It has a sticker on the limb "victor".
I dont have a way to post a picture at this time.
Take a look at this thread. '73 to '76 is the date I found through asking questions of folk more knowledgeable than me, and looking at catalogs from the time they would have been made. It sees hard to pin it down much closer than that.
It is a shooter. Just put a few arrows through it this evening.

It's in the catalogs '73 - '76. This is the 1976 page..
And I have one just like it, marked 50X.

Thanks !!! that is the one I have. Where did you get the Picture ??Is it online ??
I got one just like it also, except mine is a 55#.
It is a shooter no doubt.
I have a Lefty just like it. Mines a 74. FWI its for sale. even though I love the bow, I am shooting right handed.
I got a copy of Bear's trad catalog a week ago at a wildlife expo in Nashville. The rep said they "forgot" the trad bows.
I had always wondered about the Super Grizzly, since I have a 60 lb. model that was ordered in about 1978 as a gift for me. Had to be ordered cause no one stocked recurves any more.
The catalog says the Super is known by "its distinctive Team Bear Crusader Red Regimented Stripe and bow tip." It was introduced in 1973 and manufactured until 1976.
It's a fine shooting bow, and I hunted and shot 3D with it for years. The 58 inch lenght fits just fine with my 28 inch draw.
