Well, I jsut needed a confidence boost, so I took some data today. I know a well placed arrow, razor sharp etc will get it done, but I had doubts about my set-up ... I always over think things!
So, with my 68 inch Deathwish longbow, 54 pounds @ 30 inch draw I took my light weight hunting arrows and put them through the chrony. Then I took my heavy hunting arrows, ( woody weights for FOC) and put them through as well.
I was amazed at how well the simple D bow shoots; quiet and accurate as well as the speed she generates.
Light wood arrows averaged (10.5gpi) 569 grains + 168 fps = .424 slugs. Pretty great numbers.
Heavy wood arrows averaged (12 gpi) 644 grains + 163 fps = .466 slugs. Wow!
I know trad is NOT about over thinking things, I jsut wanted numbers to boost my confidence. I doubt if I shoot straight I will have much trouble with any WI deer up to 300 pounds.
So, now the weight begins.
Bob.
Those are great numbers for either arrow setup Bob and you should do very well with either one. Good luck
I see it as a love for archery not over thinking. Good work and good luck to you in the woods.
