Title: Tip meets Texas heat
Post by: Nakohe on August 17, 2011, 05:51:00 PM
I got my new Silvertip longbow in today and talk about pretty and fast. WOW. Even though it was 109° outside I had to shoot her.

After a few practice shots, I had her tuned in pretty good.

I enjoyed my stay last week in San Antonio. Averaged 105+ every day.  My students did not melt and we even brought a tidbit of rain with us... what is that you say...  what is rain?

Great looking bow and some outstanding shooting....

Donald, that is a sweet looking bow and some great shooting! It has been a summer to remember here in Texas. In Tyler so far we have had 61 days  100 degrees or above. 20 days 105 degrees or above and we had 47 days in a row with triple didgets! It is 102 outside right now and we are still forecast to remain this way well into next week! I am ready for fall.   :saywhat:

Donald, I don't think it will work for you. Really worried about the severe numbers of arrows that you'll have destroyed because of it's ease of shooting...better pass that one along to some other unsuspecting soul.
Nice bow and arrow combo!

Right there with you in the heat here in Oklahoma Donald!

I went out to shoot tonight (Only 99 degrees today...) and took one shot with a Snuffer on the end... Center punched and as I counted my steps on my way to the target I got to 32.  Figured that was good enough for the day!  ;)

Very nice looking tip!  I can't really help you with a name, I don't seem to name my own bows... Unless they name themselves...  The Silvertip Longbow is one bow I haven't gotten my hands on as of yet.  How does it compare say to a Brack Non-Typical, ACS-CX, or Shawnee?

However it sure looks like you and her really seem to be getting along pretty well!  Great shooting!

Donald,

You and Jeff seem to be having some problems getting your arrows to hit where you want.    :D  I try to aim at spots all over my target to keep from hitting my nocks -- that's my story and I'm sticking to it.       "[dntthnk]"

That is a great looking bow that seems to work extremely well for you. Congratulations. I look forward to seeing you, but I think I will wait until the weather cools off both down there and up here where Jeff and I live. I definitely want to shoot that bow and Danny's new one too -- the twin Tips.

I think he should call her "kimber"  very pretty to look at but don't make her mad!

Hey Bro, It has been so stinking hot I shaved to stay cool. Kinda like it and Kimber loves it. Sooo,,,,

Bob, I honestly did shoot that group. Took me about 10 min to get her tuned. She loves those arrows. They are 70# and cut to 29" and have a 200 gr tip on them. Seams she loves a heavy arrow. Also, I have my days and do not shoot near that good. Got lucky.

Snag, She ain't going anywhere. My Big Jim, Non typical, Silver Tip, and Silver Fox are here to stay.

Jeff, I hear that. I can not beleive the number of triple digit days we have had this year. Great shooting there. What is that beautiful bow you have?

Allan, You are more than welcome to shoot her. Hope to see you when Danny is here. Would you bring one of the Quest sisters you got from me to shoot?

Hmmmm "Heart Throb" or "Diva Kimber".  I think it will be "Diva Kimber" since she is my HEART THROB.

Thanks for all the nice comments. I really do not shoot that good always. Just had a great day showing off for Kimber as she took the pics. Need her beside me in the stand so I can shoot like that when hunting. LOL

Jeff, I have shot Silver Tip curves and they shot good, but just was not consistent with them. I have gone back to longbows and glad I did. I just shoot them better. Compared to the Non Typical, they are close, I like both very close, "Diva Kimber" shoots a tad better than my Non Typical, but "Dalamation" my Big Jim bow is right there with her also.

Send me a bow like that and I would be shooting in 109 heat.  Good shooting and an outstanding looking bow.

I always thought the Silvertip Longbow would be very similar to the Non-Typical kinda accross the board... shootability, smoothness, quietness, and speed.  Both great bows!

Thanks for the pics and sharing with us, and that bow is my 58" Kwyk Styk, 61# @ 30"... Zebrawood and Charcoal Dymondwood, Moose tips and thumb rest.  They are easily my favorite recurve... And I think it is because they shoot like my longbows with those static tips... just a bit noisier.  ;)   But, like you, Longbows are my favorite.

Donald,

I have the dates on my calendar to come down and see all of you when Danny is there. I will definitely bring along one of the Quest sisters for you to shoot again. I may bring a few other bows too.    ;)  Looking forward to the fellowship.

Green, we got a few showers over the weekend, plus I have been watering the heck out of the lawn to try and save as much as I can.

Glad y'all got some rain....we're still like the surface of the moon down here in the Lampasas area.  Come on cool, wet Fall weather.
