is there a common problem with arrows hitting a little left? Its happening to me fairly often I dont think it my release. Thanks for any input.
Under spined is what i would say :)
longbow?
Sometimes, after shooting for a while,I begin to shoot to the left.I attribute this to fatigue, since if I focus on a steady bow arm and a solid anchor the problem disappears.Shooting right handed,if your arrows hit left consistently, and your form is good, your arrows are over spined.Hope this helps,Ken
If you are shooting right handed it is "overspined" Commonly happens from short drawing the bow resulting in a stiff arrow.
Might try a little more point weight to weaken the shaft a bit.

If you are RH. Can you shave down the side plate any? I have a bow that this really helped on. Just to see take the side plate off and shoot it.
Thanks for the input, I'm shooting a longbow, right handed. I had a little problem getting arrows tuned ended up with Easton's st epic 600,6.4 gpi. with a 315 gr. head so I dont think upping the head weight is an option. shooting with side plate off is something I should try. thanks again
Sometimes, especially with a longbow--If you are right handed, hitting left is a simple a fix as canting the bow to the right just a little more--
If the bow isn't centershot as much as other bows you are use to, this will be the fix--
As other stated--arrow spine, fatique and a crappy relase can all be causes as well---
like mentioned try more point weight or cant your bow a little more.
My arrows hit left of where I'm aiming because I've never been able to get the arrow exactly under my dominant "aiming" eye (my right eye, as I am right handed). Since I do sight off my arrow, I have to aim a little right to hit center...and the further out I shoot, the further right I have to aim (6" at 20 yards, nearly a foot at 30). And that is with slightly weakly-spined arrows.
Bottom line--just aim a little right or work with a coach to try and fix what might be a form issue.
Cheers, Brett
When I find this, for me, it is either a canting issue or my head is not tilted so my eye is over the arrow.
One other potential problem not mentioned previously is that you might be peeking to see where the arrow hits the target. I know from experience that if you don't follow through and you lift your head to see where the impact is, the arrow will go left.
thanks again lots of good info. Tried canting a little bit more and did help. Think I might be peeking once and awhile thats when I'm really off. thanks again
I'm a leftie and of course I have the opposite issue. In fact, this weekend, for the first time in 45 years of shooting I bloodied the side of my nose. Usually I just get more or less of my mustache (still stings a bit). I know my issue is one of string/face alignment. My non-dominant right eye (I'm Left eye dominant and shoot LH as well)wants to help me a bit. When this happens I miss to the right 4-6". If I hit my face as the string leaves the corner of my mouth anchor this causes the string to bump left and the arrow to go right.
When I bear down and really keep my mind from wandering the windage problem goes away. Easier said than done some sessions.
