I'm 20 days out from elk hunting and obviously starting to go a little bit nuts from waiting. The wife and I have a few acres and there are many opportunities on the farm this time of year to break out the bow and put food on the table. While we have many bigger than this one, I have always thought that any kill, if its ethical, is truely a trophy. 17yd pass through slightly quartered away and he never moved an inch. Good thing, as there was no blood trail. The best eating are actually a bit ssmaller than this one, but it will be in a salad tonite and omlete in the morning. Some will shoot these and let them lie, calling them vermin. My wife won't let me waste them. Geez elk season can't get here soon enough.
