Title: Home canned goods to the mountains?
Post by: TIM B on August 11, 2011, 07:38:00 PM
I'm a flatlander from MO.  Can I bring home canned goods up to our base camp in CO without them de pressurizing or the seal breaking due to the change in pressure?  I'm talking about salsa, sourcraut, greenbeans and stuff?
Thanks for your input- I've never tried bringing that stuff up.

I've never had a problem in Idaho.  I bring a lot of home stuff into camp at about 5000 ft.

kraut will probably keep even if the seal is compimised but I would question the wisdom of bringing homemade kraut to camp especially if you are sharing a small tent with several others.
