Title: Adapter Size for Simmons Tiger Shark
Post by: mikebiz on August 09, 2011, 06:45:00 PM
I'm looking at purchasing some Simmons Tiger Sharks (glue-on, 135gn).  I need to get some adapters as well and just want to confirm the diameter.  Are the Tiger Sharks 11/32"?  Thanks.

The ferrule on the Tiger Sharks are 23/64", so yes, go with 11/32" adapters.  Any particular reason you don't want screw-in Tigers?

Thanks Chris.  To be honest I never gave it much thought.  However the glue-ons are about $25 cheaper (not including the adapters).  Adapters are cheap though.  I'm also trying to stay around 160-165gn for my points as I'm shooting 85gn brass inserts in my arrows.  I'm shooting both CE Predator II 20/40 and CE Heritage 75 shafts.

Have you tried the screw in Tigers?  I know you're big on Simmons, so I appreciate any feedback you can give.

I haven't had a chance to shoot the Tiger Sharks yet, but I haven't heard anything but good about them.  Supposed to be the perfect compromise between the Interceptor and the Land Shark.  Because of its length, it penetrates better than the Land Shark, and is even more durable than the Interceptor.  I just have such good luck with the Tree Sharks that it's hard for me to shoot anything smaller than 2".

I'm really new to the arrow tuning stuff.  Do you (or anyone else) think the additional 10-15 grains added with the screw in Tigers would really effect my arrow flight?  I guess if they are too weak with the 175gn Tigers I could stiffen the shafts by cutting some length off.  I have plenty to play with.

I think you would have to be REALLY marginally spined for it to make a difference.

I actually have some 175gn field points laying around.  Guess I could just try them.  Sometimes I just don't know where my brain is.  :knothead:
