Got some zwickeys for my 53lb bow it dont like the setup .but my 45pouder loves them 45 was tuned for that weight.my problem is i use low heat hot glue from walmart you know the craft stuff.the broadheads keep pulling off the insert when shot into a styrofoam target. what type of glue should i use for the fearle/broadhead.
hot melt glue for arrow heads(any of the supply shops such as 3rivers.
epoxy for the inserts.
the blue fletch tite or yellow fletch tite works good for me.
X2 Hot Melt
Get some hot melt from Big Jim
I use low temp hot melt(the glue gun stuff) for my inserts.(clean and scuff with alcohol first)( I hear the stuff Big Jim sells is better, still low temp. I am going to try it but the glue gun stuff works great for me).. For my broadheads to adapter, I use JB Weld. You can still rotate and adjust to get perfect spin before it sets up. Works good for me.
JB Weld, gives you Time to Work it, and that Shaft will Break before the Head comes off!!
if you need to remove points, use any hot melt made for that job (NOT crafts type low temp hot melt!).
for permanent bonding (inserts!) use quality slow set epoxy (not 5 minute epoxy - it's not waterproof).
I have been using off-the-shelf Gorilla epoxy and just about 20 minutes ago put in an order for Easton 24-hour epoxy. The reason? Every time I shoot a stump and the arrow (ace hex head) stick, I pull the insert out.
I've thought about JB Weld tho and at least I can find that locally. Can't find anything but the quick set epoxies around here any more.
