Title: shur-grip or posi-grip?
Post by: Rob W. on August 06, 2011, 04:29:00 PM
I finally decided to cover up some of the pretty riser wood with a grip on my longbow. Is there much difference between the two or better options out there? Thanks, Rob

I had one on a bow and it held moisture under it, I think it was the posi grip.

My experience with the posi-grip has been is that its longevity is drastically less than the sure-grip. The posi-grip started out great but after a couple of months stated to stretch and lose form, constantly rolling and bubbling up and then tearing. My posi-grip barely made it 3 - 4 month before it required removal. The posi-grip still left my hand black after each session up to the time it was done for.

The performance differnces between the two, for me, was quite evident. Three Rivers themselves responded to me that they too had experienced similar findings and the posi-grip would not hold form nearly as well as the sure grip.

I have cut a length of innertube from an old bike tire. It works great and I have had someone ask me if I liked the sure-grip on my bow and told them it was an innertube they didn't beleive me. So I guess it looks just like the sure-grip. It does turn your hand black some but it does go away after a while.

I have both and they're both still going strong.  The shur-grip fits the contours of your bow a little better than the posi-grip. The posi has a little lip at both ends of it, but the advantage is you get a slightly better grip on your hand with the bumps and grit. I cant attest to the posi's lifespan but I prefer the shur-grip because it doesn't have a lip, doesn't leave a black mark on my hand and hasn't moved since i put it on.

I like the Shur grip.   I do have some bike tube that I am going to try out. I like that Idea.
