hello all trying to work up some new arrows for hunting and ran into a little problem. Built up a half dozen GT 55-75 trads, 3gn weight tubes, 100gn brass inserts, 175gn points to average out at plus -minus 660gn. These shot fine out of BW 55# @ 28" recurve. So I thought I would let them fly out of my Thunderhorn coup stick 63# @ 28" and see what happens. They shot nock high and grouped left (bare shafts and I shoot left handed). Then if that wasn't bad enough the nocks started breaking off just below the head. Had 4 break this way and not robin hoods. Any help would be appreciated thanks
Get ya some bohning signature nocks or easton super nocks. I had the same problem with the gold tip nocks they are just to brittle I guess?
I have been very disappointed with G/T nocks myself, particularly the white ones.On solid impacts as in stumping they shear off flush with the shaft but many break for no apparent reason at one side or the other. I've been much more satisfied with Beman.
Have semi dry fired my bow three times using GT nocks that were brand new out of the package. They break right at release leaving the arrow at my feet. Glad to see this thread, needing substitution ideas.
Is the weight tube tite in the shaft? if not it will break and or pop the nocks out from time to time.
I went a long time with no troble from my G/T nocks. In the last month I have broke 3-4. I gave up and put in Easton nocks.
I carry a deck screw in my pocket for removing the broken nock inserts and a pocket full of nocks.
Maybe I should try some new nocks.
There have been a couple threads on GT nocks breaking, recently.I had 4 break out of a dozen and replaced every nock in several dozen arrows with Bohning Signature nocks.Dry firing the bow like that can destroy your bow.Nocks are cheap and bows are not.I replace every GT nock.
Thanks all just got back from the shop with 3 doz. new easton nocks to replace all my gt stock.
I had 2 GT flourescent nocks break last weekend at release. Never had a problem with the solid color nocks.
The solid white ones break too. Replaced them all with Bohning Signature nocks.
I've busted a few of the GT solid white nocks too.
But I busted them by hitting them with another arrow. Figured that would be the norm with any kind of nock. Am I mistaken?
We had about a dozen of the white ones break while shooting at denton hill. Not one green or red clear one broke. Need to carry a drill bit to get them out.
