Sounds like a title to a song doesn't it?.. :readit:
I let a slick talker talk me right out of my pretty little Classic Hunter last weekend.. :(
Jack Paluh from Pa who paints those very cool prints of Indians hunting deer and turkeys with primitive bows is now the owner of my personal bow. I talked to Jack on Saturday when he stopped by my truck. He was telling me about his shoulder problems and the bow he was shooting wasn't helping things any. I handed him my 45# Shrew Classic Hunter (Jacks a lefty) and told him to go over to the practice range a shoot a few arrows.
He was back in 10 minutes wanting to buy my bow. I told him I really didn't want to sell my bow but that I could put him on the waiting list for a Shrew. I won't say that he begged, and I won't say that he cried, but he slick talked me into feeling sorry for him and before I knew what was happening, he was handing me a check and walking away with my bow.
So...when I got home I told Gregg that I needed a new bow...another Classic Hunter in a "SAFARI" model... :jumper: :jumper: :jumper:
Another great story from Denton!
I know someone who talked you out of your Buffalo knife!
Thank you Ron for taking the time to tell the story of your Alaskan hunt, and the value of a readily available sharp knife, when everything goes wrong!
I hope I will have the pleasure to meet with you again Ron
F-Manny
:)
Hi Ron this is Joe we met in the parking lot and I told you to give Bill Bagwell a call. I told him i saw you and he is excited to hear from you
It was nice meet you
So, is Gregg going to give you "cuts" in line so you don't have to wait? Ron LeClair showing he has a big heart, what is the trad world coming too? :p :clapper:
Let me guess, he even had you sign it with a black sharpie didn't he Ron? That way when you are pushin' up daisy's the price for that gem will be 10x what he gave you. Haha.
Just in time for hunting season 2012 eh Ron? :p
But some how I think maybe you have another bow to use. Yes?
:)
Your a good man brother Ron!
ron, been there done that, lol.
:archer:
PS: In terms I'm sure you'll understand, "You'll do to float a stick with!"
Ron,I would cry myself to have one of your personal bow!!
It will happen......sometimes! :D
Bill
I can't blame him. Had it been me I likely would have cried and begged!
My oh my ...thats cool!!! both works of art! :) :goldtooth:
Ron,
I am mad at you. Not for selling your bow, but for suggesting a Classic Hunter Safari. I think you did it just to get me fired up to order one of those too, now that I already have a Super Shrew Safari on order! I am building on a new wing for my house to store all my bows. Not really, but I think my wife is about to suggest it. :bigsmyl:
Allan
Ron,
I really enjoyed meeting you. Truely a great gentleman...tippit
Why didn't you just tell Greg you wanted the Safari, you wouldn't have had to go to all the trouble of finding someone to sell your CH to. < :)
Allan, I'm sorry..It's not going to be a true big game Safari bow because it isn't going to be in a heavy weight and it'll have the carbon/foam core instead of the bamboo. Maybe we should call it the "SG Safari" (small game) or something that will distinguish it from the true Safari bow like your's and Dougs... :notworthy:
Ooo a Small Game Safari Shrew! Complete with Jackalope tips! :)
safe to say Ron went home with a LOT less then he showed up with!
I would of had some new paintings on my wall at home!!!! I would say MR Paluh got the better end of that deal if all he had to do is give up a few bucks.
I met Jack for the first time on Saturday as well. He's a smooth talker, that's for sure. :p Very fine man to talk with. I'm just glad I'm a righty and didn't get talked out of my bow! :biglaugh:
Ron,
You really are a true gentleman !!! I knew I should have bothered Ron :banghead: Sounds like there were some great deals in the back of his truck :biglaugh: Maybe at Kalamazoo???
Bill
Hey lefties, he still has that new shrewhill. I betcha someone could talk him out of it. Just don't do iy before I get my safari. He might decide to keep it.
Maybe we'll see a Shrew in some future bowhunting painting by Jack.
He's a great artist and his work is the only artwork I've actually purchased on my own. I have "Wapiti Falls" haning on the wall in my livingroom right underneath a PA longrifle my father built quite a few years ago.
Your just a easy touch, softy with a big heart. Another good story.

I like that name -- "SG Safari". And I want one, including the carbon/foam cores. :readit:

OK OK Allan, I heard you.... :biglaugh:
Ron, I don't know what to say. First, I didn't know that you were there at Denton Hill and now I learn that you got rid of a Classic Hunter there. Irregardless of the fact that it was lefthanded (I can change.)I would love to have spoke with you and handled the bow.
One of the guys from Tradgang came by to show me his Classic Hunter. It felt really great in hand but I was afraid to shoot it. The fear was knowing that I would have to wait in line for a long time to get one.
Sorry that I missed you Ron. We were in the middle tent. I believe that I saw you at least once from a distance and saw the resemblance but decided it couldn't be you. Maybe next time.
:banghead: :archer2:
It is nice to make someone happy isn't it?
Back in 1994 I believe at the Warriors Mark Shoot you sold me the Paluh print "Whitetail Ambush" for $125 and i promptly got it framed by Jacks brother. Now that it is out of print I've had offers to sell for over $1,000 bucks so you did me a good deed too.
Jeff, I think that was at Denton Hill. Did I have my big red trailer?
Don, I didn't realize that you were there or I would have looked you up. It's a big place and there were a lot of people there. You probably didn't recognize me because you were looking for a younger guy like in the videos.. :biglaugh:
It could have been Denton, don't remeber what color the trailer was.
So, Ron....
Where are YOU on that waiting list, huh?
:saywhat: :bigsmyl:
Hope your not a year long waiting list.

;)
Ron, since you have an "in" with the bowyer, why not just sell me that ShrewHill you have and get another made ASAP? It's my weight and I'm a lefty! I'll cry and whine too if that would help--I have no pride when it comes to such things. :D
David, check your email.
Whooooeeee, I'm the new owner of Alpha!!! The rest of you guys on the waiting list...eat your hearts out. :jumper:
David, what luck and you didn't even have to whine.Congrats. :clapper:
No, limbolt, I just struck while the iron was hot as they say. I never thought Ron would sell Alpha, but you don't know unless you ask. He was very gracious to respond to my post.
Now go explain it to Ellen, thats where the whineing comes in,LOL Enjoy .
Jack's work is amazing. He can also tell some great stories. I saw Ron Saturday morning heading towards the Cabins. I wanted him to sign my Shrew but he was gone when I turned around:) He can still move:)
limbolt....
David... M. B. A... ain't a degree...it's simply: Marriage By Apology...which follows that line of logic its better to ask for forgiveness than to ask for permission. :notworthy:  works good too...
Seems like Ron is having trouble keeping his bows. :biglaugh:

I've seen Ron leap 15 feet in two strides in nanoseconds to nab the last piece of apple pie at Shrewhaven Lodge. I think they put bionic knees in when he had them replaced a few years back. :biglaugh:
I got back from the Elm Hall traditional shoot last night. We had a good time, I shot my Shrew Model-T and did good on the money bear target on Saturday.

I decided to shoot Davids ShrewHill on the short range round on Sunday morning, and I gotta tell ya, I'm already having regrets.. :banghead: . Previously I had only shot it on the practice target behind the shop so this was the first time I got to shoot it on a 3-D range..
:biglaugh:
Ron, Jack is a great fella...him being wrong-handed like you just shows you most artist think differently than us square righthanders. He will be here hunting whitetails with me in November. I am gonna start shooting southpaw and try and talk HIM outa YOUR bow then trade it back to you for a righthanded hunter :)
Ron, too bad! I want my bow! :help: Quit typing and get to the Post Office!

Whew, that was close!
Long white tube, sent USPS, Priority Mail, you should have it by Wednesday.. :readit:
Again, Ron, more thanks than you know coming from here.
Well, she arrived today--Alpha, ShrewHill #1. Here is the very first group I shot with her at 15 yards--six arrows in all, right where I aimed them. She's a sweet shooter. Thanks again, Ron.

Nice shooting David!
