I havn't ever hunted during the HOT part of the season. I will this year without a doubt.
I'd like to try to get a deer or hog from the ground so i have been looking into trypes of footwear for stalking.... I wore my Sperry boat shoes on my last scouting trip and I could feel everything I put my foot on.
Have any of you hunted in them before? Do you think its a good idea? Thanks for your thoughts.
I am hunting in a pair of low top "tennis shoes" that I got at academy sports. They are brown leather and look like a pair of leather converse low tops. You have decent feel of the ground and they are holding up okay. Little more protection with the leather top.
I prefer the light weight hiking boots. More less like a tennis shoe.

I wear several different types of footwear during the season. I guess my first thought on your post seeing where your from and hunting on the ground would be snakes...
We really don't have anything up here but copperheads and a very few rattlers and ya have to really be in the right place to encounter one of them.
I like New Balance shoes. They fit me well. I am also inclined to wear the more technical light weight hiking ankle high shoes. When it cools off or is wet I go with LL Bean Maine hunting shoe....
dunlop volleys
I have a pair of those 'desert boots' they are really ankle high gum soled shoes and as silent as it gets. They keep some of the stickers off your socks and skin too.
Nike desert boots, man I love those things. Chris
russel moccisons,tula-tula.(texas pigs)Havent hunted rocky terrain(deer, elk) in them though. But there great for hot weather.
From Robtattoo:
Ghillie boots (I swear, my mission in life is to convert all American hunter to these things!) They're ultra, ultra lightweight, soft, flat soled & silent to stalk in. If you eiher don't mind wet feet when it rains, or have an alternative for wet weather, Ghillies are the perfect early season/stalking boot.

I use those canvas Converse All Star basketball sneakers.
I have seen those Australians with flip flops, love them.
FWIW met a guy up at Denton Hill with those separate toed VIbram shoes who claimed he'd been able to walk up on elk in them in warm weather. They even make toed socks to go with them if you're so inclined.

call me crazy but I love plain old green lacrosse boots.
I like the Converse All Star {black}
i wear the green rubber lacross boots when it cools off. even when its 30 outside i can only weat 1 pair of light weight socks with them because my dogs sweat so bad in them....
With the temperature hitting 104 degrees today, I wear blue/gray colored "sneakers" also commonly known as Nike running shoes.
They're very light in weight too.
Converse. Wore em to a Texas hunt a few years back, and I think I was the only guy not picking out thorns all week!

Snake boots all year.....stabow
I second the snake boots.
Too many Cotton Mouths with attitudes.
Well, since I live in Louisiana, I will wear the same hunting boots I wear in cold weather - Lacrosse Burlys when it's "dry" and Lacrosse hip boots when it's "wet"
Otherwise I got wet feet.
I have shucked 'em and snuck through a marsh barefoot trying to sneak up on a group of bedded deer.
