Congratulations Ron! It's a great feeling winning the Eagle Eye at Denton Hill. It's a great event whether you are a participant or a spectator. I was a participant early and a spectator the rest of the way. I got to enjoy it from both perspectives. Ha! Just for the record, you won against some pretty good competition. Good shooting!

Restores my faith in karma.
Karma is the law of moral causation. It is a fundamental doctrine in Buddhism. It was the Buddha who explained and formulated this doctrine in the complete form in which we have it today.
"What is the cause of the inequality that exists among mankind? Why should some be blessed, and others cursed from their births? Either this inequality of mankind has a cause, or it is purely accidental. No sensible person would think of attributing this unevenness, this inequality, and this diversity to blind chance or pure accident.
In this world NOTHING HAPPENS TO A PERSON THAT HE DOES NOT FOR SOME REASON OR OTHER DESERVE."
Well deserved Ron! :notworthy: :clapper:

For anyone... excuse my ignorance, but what exactly is the "Eagle Eye" competition? :o
 :clapper: :clapper:
Holy Smokes! :o Thanks everyone :notworthy: For sure, it was very cool to win but honestly all the glory goes to God, Bill Howland, (Brackenbury Bows), and to a good friend who built me 4 of the sweetest tapered cedars you've ever seen. Oh, and lets not forget Bill Dunn from Zipper Bows for the beautiful zebrawood quiver. (Pictures of all the equipment to come).
Ron
Good for you Ron, I guess the switch to 3 under is really paying off. Who knew I was shooting next to "an eagle eye". Now if he can only remember my name :goldtooth:

Great shooting, Ron and Ethan. Of course God is at the center of every accomplishment! And I have repeatedly said that Bill Howland builds the closest to perfect and best shooting hunting bows of anyone in the world. I see yours is made with Bill's favorite veneer -- cathedral cut zebrawood. Beautiful, spectacular bow, for sure!!! You had the best tool in the world to launch your arrows, and you sure made good use of it. :notworthy:
And I love my KME knife sharpener!
Allan
Once again Congrats! :notworthy:
Even equipment that great can not win an eagle eye all by itself.
Bill
Ron,
I shot that prototype Peerless before I ordered mine from Bill. It was the best shooting bow I had ever had the opportunity to have in my hands -- at least until I got the one I ordered from Bill to my specs. You are a very fortunate man to have that bow. A Peerless is definitely "peerless" and there are only a handful of them in existence.
Allan
Good Shootin' Ron! :clapper:
Would someone mind telling us the details of the Eagle Eye contest?

"You are a very fortunate man to have that bow".You can say that again Allan! It's amazing what an average shooter can do with a top end bow and top quality shafts that are perfectly matched to that bow. If there was ever a house fire, that's the one personal possession that I'd brave the flames to save! Trying to get some pics posted of the bow but the sun isn't co-operating today. It keeps poking out for a minute or two, then it clouds up again. I will get them taken and posted though. Thanks again to everyone for the kind words!
Ron
Congrats Ron. You have been talking about this for 6 months. I knew you could dit it. Good shooting Uncle Ron!
Ron,
Here are some pictures I took when I briefly had the bow. I'm sure you can take better ones that more accurately reflect the beauty of the bow.

Thanks Allan,
The sun did give me a brief opportunity today... 'Course by the time I got out on the deck with the camera the clouds had come back. :banghead: These aren't too bad though. Here she is:

Wow, cool, congrats!
how does the eagle eye work? like distance and how many shots? i have been to Denton twice and missed this competion both times...
Nice, congrats!
Way to go Ron. I enjoyed watching the whole show, you nailed it under pressure, I was quite impressed.
Beautiful bow Ron...now you need to put some venison on the ground with it this fall.....
:archer:
Redshaft, you qualify for the Eagle Eye by shooting at an orange dot of about 1 1/4" in size at about 18-20 yards. It cost $2.00 per shot.
Once qualified you will shoot in an eliminator round starting about 5:30-6:00 on Saturday evening. They will call you up one at a time to shoot at a 2 1/4" dot on the kill zone of a deer at about 16-18 yards. Normally 2-4 shooters will advance to the next round. Almost always it will be decided in 2-4 rounds. Sometimes the target will be moved back a few yards for the second round but is usually moved back to it's original position if everyone misses.
It's a fun shoot and is a challenge to stay focused on a little orange dot with several hundred people focused on you taking that shot. I had the privilege of winning it 3 years ago. I have enjoyed it immensely at other times watching Hope Gillete win it dramatically last year and Ken Reading and Calvin Smock shooting the lights out the year before. Win or lose, I love this event.
Good shooting Ron!
:clapper: :archer2:
Congratulations Ron, as already said, it couldn't have happened to a better person.
I just want to add that Ron beat out some top shooters which was no easy feat in itself.
Again congrats to friend!
