This brush and some of the trees along the river usually start to change color in Mid Aug. So I was a little suprised to see it changing already. I almost went into full rut, but I was able to pull it together. LOL!

Twenty nine days and counting 'til I leave with my son Jay (JJB) and two of his buddies for Colorado. This will be my first elk hunt out although I used to hunt mule deer there in the early 70's. Great looking country.

Here is a picture of the high country, 10,200 ft., today. I have NEVER seen it so green this time of year. TONS of feed and water. Elk seem pretty spread out.

Man I am so ready, new bow dialed in, broadheads super sharp, gear ready, old and new hunting areas scouted.
This might just be my year
By the way, just received a doz new Cx Heritage from RMS gear in Denver. Nice job cooking these up Tom and the boys!
I've always heard that Widows like a stiff, heavy arrow. I'll confirm that, surprisingly stiff, fly like a laser.
Going on my first Elk hunt in Colorado opening week, getting close. I'm really getting excited to hunt the high country for the first time!
I am headed out tomorrow for 9 days of sheep hunting (hopefully less), doesn't get much closer than that.
good luck!
Good Luck, Mark. Remeber a positive atittude takes more game than anything else!
