Title: ks new guy
Post by: kswelder on July 31, 2011, 11:54:00 PM: Hi been reading for quite a awhile and just now joining, my Sarrel wildcatt just arrived 2 days ago and I have fallen in love with it. I'm shooting 50# at 27", But my question is how many Kansas folks do we have here. Being new to this type of shooting I would love to meet up with someone and get some lessons about shooting, I cant find anyone around here who shoots trad. I live up in northeast ks

Several guys on here from NE part of state. Welcome!

Come on down to Mcalester, Ok this weekend lots of trad shooters down there for the Southwestern plains traditional shoot at the McAlester, ammunitions facility. Good time and this year should be alot of HOT action. Call Mike Horten at the nocking point. He's in Northeast Ks he can probably get you in touch with someone up in your area.

There are 3d shoots in the Wichita area. All have trad shooters attending.
1st sunday of Month at Kingman Lake
2nd sunday Wichita Archers, Wichita, Ks
3rd sunday Ninescah Bowhunters, west of Clearwater, Ks.
4th Sunday Salthawk Archers, Hutchinson Ks.

The Nocking Point is the bomb. If you are close to DeSoto, the Prairie Traditional Archers have a range.

I am also in the NE part of Kansas (Leavenworth).I second the recommendation for the Nocking Point and for the club in Desoto (Prarie Traditional Archers). Great hunting opportunities in the region. Kansas has great deer, turkey, and small game. A few hours drive to Oklahoma offers up great hog hunting. Twelve hours will put you in the high country of Colorado.

Mike at The Nocking Point is a wealth of help,info and cool stuff. He's not that far from Horton either, his place is just outside Winchester. (and just 15 miles north from me :) ...)
