i LOVE big knives but to carry them is a BIG problem as well. i have a bowie that weighs a ton and dan near pulls my britches down when i wear it. now bring in Art Vincent. i meet Art a few years ago as he visits New York a few times a year. GREAT guy to be around and listen to! Art does custom leather work and does it EXTREMLY well! he makes a shoulder harness for big knives that is the PERFECT in every way from looks to function. my bowie has a large guard on the hilt and i have never wore it comfortably untill now! i swear i don't even feal it on me as it rides so well. the holster offers many adjustments to fit you and your style. you can even take the sheath of and just wear it on your belt if you so choose. thank you for such fine work my friend!!!!

Sweet!
rides like a dream! my bowie weighs around 3 pounds!
that is nice. good idea, i carry some long and heavy knives when i go out in the woods and ruff it for a while. one is a short sword and i cary it on the side of my pack. makes it hard to access when i get into brush which is when i need tha thing lol.
Shawn,
i know art does custom work, send him an email or give him a shout.
awesome idea! thats what I need for mine!
I had the pleasure of meeting Art at Baltimore this year, and he is indeed a very talented gentleman. Great work and a joy to talk with.

Nathan
Thats a big knife. I like it.
Very nice!!
Ken, Did Art tell you that he's been making the knife harness for my big knives for a couple years now? It works great for carrying the big heavy knives. He also makes my "Frontiersman" sheaths for carrying my Shrew hawks.
I borrowed the idea from examples of knife and hawks carrying rigs of early frontiersman and had Art make them for me. The lower belt loop can be used to attach the sheath to the belt which secures it and holds it in place.

yup i know he had mentioned that before. i can't get over how easy the big knife rides when before it was a real hassel to do a lot of hiking/hunting with it on my belt.
I just saw Art at Denton Hill and he had an accident recently and tore his tendon in his thumb and won't be able to work leather for awhile.
Art's so good he can make fine leather products with one hand tied behind his back... :goldtooth:
I've got one of Art's arm guards. He is a real craftsman and a fine gentleman for sure. :bigsmyl:
Art just made me three possible bags and a side quiver, he was a pleasure to do business with.

i'll give the rig a good work out this weekend on the mountain.
At BBTC this year Art took a picture of my badge as I wanted him to incorporate it somehow into a quiver. Look at what he did - the thing looks like a badge is laying on top the quiver - its hard to even see that it's "in" the quiver.

Cool rig - looks good and comfie! Does it ride around to the front when you need to bend over?
nope becouse there is a slot to attach it to your belt! you can also take the sheath of the harness and wear on your belt.
