O.K. i`m sure this has been beat to death but after a search I came up zilch. I`m buying a longbow and need advice on what`s right for me. My current bow is about 46# @ 28" so i`m guessing I should stay with that or close to it. So what lenght longbow should I get so it`ll cast nice, no stack, etc. Any experticed advice will be geatly appreciated. I`d like to end up with a bow I can keep. As far as arrow selection goes I was thinking about the test set 3RA offers but i`ll be glad to hear advice that as well.
Burch
Burch- from what I gather it will depend on the style bow you want meaning mild to extreme r/d or straight hill style type in relation to your draw length.
For a mild r/d bow
58" bow for draw lengths 24"-27.5"
62" bow for draw lengths 27"-29"
64" bow for draw lengths 28"-32"
I believe for a hill style the longer your draw the longer the bow....
By the way, glad to see a local is on here. I'm across the river on N Merritt Island
My sister lives on N. Merritt,Isl. on Church St. just behind the Crisifulli Market on Courtney.
That's funny... Most of my wife's family lives on church & rons road.... She's a cousin to the crisafulli's..... Small world
PM me maybe we could meet up and shoot some time....
You could be sure and save your coin and go to the TBOF shoot in Ocala next month. There will be plenty of people there with bows in hand. Most would love to brag on their bows and even let you shoot them. There should be a few dealers there as well.
It surely, as Rusty said, is a good idea to go shoot some before ya drop the cash. Grips are different and the way the bows feel is different.
I would go shoot some before ya buy.. JMHO
In fact, i`ve been invited to that shoot but it`s the wife`s birthday on the 12 and you know how that`ll go :knothead:
