Not official but the rumors are flying. I drew McAlester AAP too! That sucks. I wonder if they will give me rain check?
Don't you hate it when that happens? But, when you get back you can afford a big trip hunt maybe. Always a flip side.
Jim that does suck, but THANK YOU!!! pm sent
Hey man, I just want say thank you for your service!!
I bet if you talk to the right person over there and explain the situation you may be able to get a rain check!! It wouldn't hurt to try!
TIM B
That's not the best timing in the world.
Be safe. Thank you for your service.
I have missed a few my self for the same very reason. Don't worry the animals will still be here.
Be safe,
James
Jim,
Are you going out to Idaho this fall?
I heard the rodeo was back in town at Lewiston.
LOL! Rick! No, not planning on Idaho though I probably should since have to leave this fall. If we ever do end up back in Lewiston and IF the rodeo is in town... drag my A&% back to my room please!!! LOL UGH that was ROUGH!
It might please you to learn that I have since learned some moderation. :knothead: Did I ever send you the bear camp pics Rick?
My son is currently serving in an infantry unit in eastern Afghanistan so we won't be hunting together this fall. Luckily, he checks in once in awhile so that I know he is OK. He's 30 yrs old and I still worry about him like he's a little kid.
Yeah - my head hurt just watching you. Yep - moderation is a good thing. Good to see your experiences have paid off
:clapper:
I don't remember getting any pics. Did I send you any of mine? I got a couple from Tom of us all around the table.
I may be headed back out to Gary's this fall, trying to get something set up.
Be safe.
Rick
Hey Jim, I started typing this to let ya know how much sweeter it is to be in the woods after you get back. Then I read your full signature and realized that, if there is anyone around here that would already know that, it is You! Good luck either way. I know how it goes. I was there for 1 and 6. Hopefully for your sake that the rumors were started by someone up the chain. They usually only have rumors. Seems like the privates always have the real scoop, lol. Mike
Also, if the rumors do end up being true, don't hesitate to shoot a pm for anything that you might not be able to get while you are there. Also might want to look into Camp Cuervo when the time comes to see if they have a range set up where ever it is that you are going. JDVasos on here helped to get it set up and is a great guy to deal with for sure.
Thanks guys! Luckily our deployments are short and not near as dangerous as most have it over there. Rick I'll send you some pics of our hunt.
Got them Jim - thanks. Brings back some good memories.
I'm sorry if your hunting plans get messed up but I sincerely appreciate your service, both past and present.
Thank you.
Jim- Thanks for serving sir, and the critters will still be around when you return.
Hope you can rain check, take care!

I missed many season whilevserving my 30 years. Can not hurt to make your case to the post for a rain check. I know I would write a note to the CO with a copy of your orders. They have been known to understand deploy

Hope you get to do some hunting one way or another. Thank you very much for serving!
My service is an honor and privilege. Thank you for all the support.
I am going to try and contact the base biologist tomorrow to see if I can get a quality pass for next year.
Spoke to Mr. Starry and it is a no go. It was worth a try.
Who knows, maybe things will change before then. Also, thank you for serving our country.
First off, thank you for your service.
Second, yeah it does suck. Been there done that during Desert Storm. I'll never forget the morning of October 1st, 1990. We were driving and went past a camel pen, where they had a male camel that they used for breeding race camels (over there they treat the camels like Kentucky Derby horses...no lie). I couldn't help but to mentally pick a spot behind that stud camel's shoulder and let an imaginary arrow fly. Lol!
Jim, Thanks for all those years of service. Hope you have better luck next year. God Bless
Well I'll do all can before I go to have some good hunting after I get back. Our season goes into January. I'll get some stand time when I get back. Thank you guys.
See the post commander, at least via AA form. I was a commander and would honor you and your service with a pass. Your service deserves some consideration.
Thanks for your continued service. If only was younger.....

I had abgreat season at Ft Sill in. 76-77
I dont think the Post C.O has much to do with the hunt. I have a letterdrafted to the Director of the Oklahoma Dept. of Wildlife Conservation.
I thought you were hunting on post, sorry. You are still a Marine and a serviceman so do not give up. We owe you for your service. Thank you.

Thanks for your service and yes I know the feeling. Missed out on the 1967 deer hunt. But made up for it. Be safe over there.
Stay safe, theres always next year,I know I told my self this for 20 years, thanks for serving, can never say that enough.
No worries.......you are going on a fully guided, all expenses paid hunt....with no bag limit!
That's how I looked at it each time....
It is on the post but the biologist is the deer baron.
I wrote the wildlife manager/biologist at the AAP. This is what he wrote back.
"Mr. Richards, I apologize for the misunderstanding. I was under the
impression you were a contractor going to Iraq on a job. However considering
you are in the military and have been deployed, we will be more than happy
to work with you. I will flag your name on this year's hunting list. Upon
your return, you will need to contact us and we will make arrangements for a
hunt next year for the corresponding weekend. Again I apologize for the
mistake. I have two boys in Afghanistan myself. Our soldiers need all the
support we can give them".
This is an awesome gesture!
I wanted to thank you for what you do to keep all of us safe. hope you get ur huntin in this year. Good luck and stay safe!!
Man that makes me happy for ya! I knew if ya found the right person then you could get some understanding and a raincheck!
Be safe over there and thanks again for your service!!

Starry changed his mind? That's awesome!! Glad you get to go next year at least. Stay safe and thanks for your service!!
Well now that's cool!
Thats cool Jim...just make sure you keep that letter!
:clapper:
That's awesome Jim. I've had to miss a few seasons myself. Stay safe.
Yeah I'll forward him documentation regarding my deployment, and the email when I get back.
I'm glad I tried again because I guess he misunderstood me when I called him on the phone.
