My hunting buddy Mike Robin (Bamboo) builds one of the finest D shape longbows I have ever shot. Smooth, fast and stable. I shot Mike's 66" 55# bow and it felt like 50# and the CArbons smoked out of it.

This year, my set up is as follows:
64'', Fox Triple Crown, 50# @ 28''.
30'' 55/75 Goldtip Traditional Shaft
100 grain brass insert,
125 grain Woodsmans Elite (screw in)
5'' LW feathers fletched using Bohning Fletching Tape, Goat Tuff Glue added to ends & middle;
I pull just over 28'', the extra 2'' of arrow is used strictly for viewing in my peripheral which helps greatly.
I'd say the main choices boil down to H Hill "Big 5" or 7 Lakes "Carolina Night" & I like the grip on the 7 Lakes much better.
When using a longbow, it is a 64" Northern Mist Baraga 50# @ 25", 40-45# Braveheart wood shafts with 4 blade eskimos or 125 grain 2 blade eclipse broadheads with a total arrow weight around 490-500 grains. No problems passing through whitetails! :archer2:
