i was wondering who as a schafer tip recuve...and what do you think about it..i am looking into getting a new bow some time and i was wondering about one of these..pics would be good to..but if not its o.k. thanks john
John,I bought last year a pair of Silvertips, they are very good hunting bow:great grip, balanced handle, accurate, forgiving, quiet and pretty fast. You'll see a lot of Tips fans up here.
I own two-and-a-half! Great bows! Just do a search in PowWow for "Silvertip" and another for "Schafer" and you'll get heaps of pictures and recommendations.
Love mine, well, Loved it, my oldest son seems to have high jacked it.
I especially love the checkered grip. Feels great in the hand.
That is what I will be hunting with this fall.
Just got a used one....it's everything they said and more......very pleased!!
I do and I like it
Just picked one up from a fellow memeber, I can't seem to put it down, It shoots as good as it looks. After reading about Paul Schafer in the history forum, having a bow affiliated with him seems to add something special. Also, even though I bought the bow used, Beth and Dave answered any question that I had and sent me an instruction booklet as if I had just recieved the bow from them. Very nice people, I gave them the serial number and they told me everything about the bow. Can't go wrong with a Silvertip.
Been shooting 'Tips since 1982.
I shoot one and love it! They are super smooth, fast, and quiet. Awesome hunting bow. A one piece is on my list.
I love mine. The tightest groups I've ever shot are with my Silvertip.
My silvertip is on of my best bows!
I love my Silver Tip. Great manners and shoots awesome.

Joe bow is really outstanding, some of the best Cocobolo I have ever seen!
:goldtooth:
I own 2 Schafers. They are hard to beat.

I love mine

I sleep with mine every night
stop looking for a nice recurve you just found it
schafer silvertip!!!!!
Hard to beat a Silvertip. Very smooth and stable bow that will shoot with the best. Mine is all bocate and looks as good as it shoots. I strongly recommend a Silvertip.
DB
I bought mine in 1992, and have hunted exclusivly with that bow since. I would highly recomend the checkered grip.
Oh yeah, the bow in my profile picture is not the bow that I killed the deer with. The deer and my Silvertip wound up in different vehicles so I grabbed my old Howatt for the picture. Just thought that I would head that one off at the pass!!
I wish I had some pics of mine... She's all black with rock maple on the line through the riser, and the limbs are backed with rattlesnake.
60# at 27.5", and it sends a 520 grain arrow (at 27") a very quiet and stable 183 FPS. I've got another set of limbs that will be ready in November.
I've shots PILES of other recurves on the 3D scene, and there really is Schafers and all the rest. you might find beautiful fast bows, or forgiving, stable bows, or even quiet and fast bows. But a Schafer recurve has IT ALL. They're the mistress in a french maid outfit of the bow world ;)
The only legitimate gripe about Schafers is that you really do need to have each set of limbs fit to your riser. Dave says that will change soon...
I love mine. Like others have said, it looks good and it shoots good. What more could you ask for?
They are some beautiful bows.
If you can make the TBW rendezvous in Packwood WA next weekend??? Look me up...I'll be in the small white scamp trailer... I'll bring a 60" 56# S-tip for you to shoot some... just bring a "drool rag" as I hate handling a slick bow :coffee:
Someday, someday, I will have one though I have never shot one. NEVER do you see a group of archer's, hunters or collectors brag-gloat-praise- drool over a particular make of a bow. Bear, HH etc. have their followers but the Schafer's..........
Great bows!!
I own a few!
Outstanding 'Tip, Joe!
I own two. Great bows. Working on getting a one piece now.
Got 2 (for now). Awesome bows.
First bow I bought, only bow I own, don't see any need for another.
Well mannered, nicely appointed, pure class, but try before you buy. Like all bows, the grip seems to be everything. Schafers just don't fit my hand properly. I so wish they did!
Always learning,
~CB
Be careful of Gene! He's got some nice stuff:) He may try to sell something to you at a good price!
Fantastic bows.

I have two originals take downs both 60" one is shedua with green camo limbs horn tips 68# and the other is cherry stained with realtree camo limbs 67#. I had three other originals (wish I still had) and one of Daves. The one thing I can say about Schafers is that they looks like hunting bows and feels like a hunting bows.
Robert
I have two of them and both are simply fantastic bows in every respect.

JParanee do you find the one piece and the three piece shoot a lot differently?
I am finding I seem to shoot better with one piece recurves than three for some reason.
I have 2 of them ,bought both of them here on tradgang .

To be honest I prefer the one piece don't get me wrong I really like the three piece but the one piece is one of the best shooting bows I have shot
But let me say I am a one piece guy love the light weight
Thanks JParanee.
I am starting to think I am with you on that one!
I have never spoken to anyone who has shot the same make in one and three piece before, but I always shoot a one piece better.
I really love mine. One of those bows I will NEVER sell
I sold one due to a injury. Doc said i was done shooting bows. It took 2 years to heal but i have no ill effects. That was 10 years ago man i miss that bow. TD.
This one will be in my hands shortly and I cannot wait.

Fantastic bow
I know I saw that one at Denton Hill!! Words can't describe it. I own one of the ugly ones with brown camo limbs but she sure does shoot good.
