Hi, Gang.
It's been a year since I dropped in or spent much time with my stickbows, so I am trying to get back in the groove!
A lot has happened since my last post here, so I won't bore you with the details. Suffice it to say that life is filled with unexpected twists and turns and I am hopeful that they have begun to level out.
I'm back shooting again (after 15 months of not touching a bow)and am glad to report that although I've dropped a bit in poundage, everything is getting back on track. Now I just need to find someplace to hunt in the wilds of the Philadelphia suburbs. LOL!
Happy Summer and Good Hunting, Everyone!
Welcome Back Claudia!!! :campfire:
I was just wondering the other day where you were at. Welcome back!

Welcome back Claudia, you always bring the level of this place up a notch or two when your here!
Thank you, Everyone.
Thanks for the offer Mountainken. I'm fortunate to have plenty of lower poundage bows in my collection. Right now I am shooting a 40# Schafer Silvertip in the hopes of graduating up to some of my 43 and 44 pound bows soon :bigsmyl: It's great to see those arrows flying again!

WOW !!! Was just wondering bout you the other day too Claudia. You got me on the Gray Wolf Woolens train with all the help and advice you gave me over the last few years. Since you have been gone you should know my favorite piece of gear now is my GWW vest, thanks to you in part. Last season was my warmest and thinnest bow arm sleeve ever. Sooooooo glad to have you and your perspective back here on the gang. Now don't go runnin off on us again, ya hear ??? :readit:

I have often wondered where you were hiding. Figured you were BUSY with that new job.
How did your ND elk work out?
You going to be antelope hunting this fall?
Glad to see you back!
Welcome back. Apparently you've just moved to PA? Its not exactly the Philly suburbs but if you are able to drive 1 1/2 - 2 hrs I could give you at least one spot to hunt. I've got a fair amount of other places but would have homeowners/hunting partners to clear it with first. But I could definitely get you hunting my dad's farm. P.M. me if interested...
:wavey:
Welcome back Claudia! I am ready for an antelope thread...you going again this fall?
:wavey:
Claudia, it's good to see you are back and getting into the swing of things! Hope all is well and continues to go that way. :wavey:
It is so nice to see your posts again, Claudia. There certainly was no way to replace you, and your presence among us was sorely missed. I can tell you from my own experience that you will be back up to shooting your old draw weight within a few months, and will probably be shooting as well or better than ever. Whether we ever hear the story of your travails, there is no way that you ever have been or ever could be boring in telling any story. Whatever you have gone through, I hope you have overcome the difficult aspects and are back to where you want to be in life. And I definitely hope you are back to stay here with your TradGang friends. You are very special to so many of us! We want you to share your thoughts, experiences and adventures with the rest of us and captivate us with your wonderful story-telling talents, just as you have in the past. :campfire:
Allan

Thank you so much for your kind words, everyone. My goodness, it's great to come back home...to be among kindred souls, to feel the warmth of glowing fires, and to know the joy of honest friends. What a blessing!

I'm glad to see you back.
:wavey: Welcome back Claudia. I saw your picture on an antelope outfitters site a few weeks back (don't remember the name of outfitters site) and was wondering where you slipped off to. You were posing behind one of those funny looking bows. :campfire:
Feelin' the love now aren't ya Claudia ! Always admired your speed goat stories as well and now that Uncle Robtattoo graciously shared some of his speed goat kill with us we want to hunt them too. Tasty indeed ! I had always heard the opposite about them and how gamey they could be. Welcome back and looking forward to your adventures this fall.
Welcome back.
PM sent.
welcome back. Missed your input around here :campfire:
Welcome back "Pinecone". I asked during the St. Jude's auction where you were hiding. Was expecting you to jump out of the woodwork at any time. Can't say you were not missed thats for sure. :campfire:

I still haven't found the perfect pumps, but a girl always needs a reason to shop another day. LOL! I dusted off my Danners and they look to be the perfect shoe for my Fall fashions :archer2: !

:wavey:
Hi Pinecone, yur goin' in the wrong direction! Come out to Wyoming and manage one of our hospitals. It's a lot closer to the hunt!
Good to see you back Claudia, Larry and I were just talking about you yesterday wondering how you were doing.
Everybody should take a break once in a while, welcome back!
G'day!
Welcome back. Sorry to loose you from North Dakota. But I understand that life goes on. "Asi es la vida."
Glad you're back! Now get out there and hunt so we can read of your wonderful adventures!
Welcome back, Claudia. I too have missed your wit and wisdom. If you keep mov'in North, your next stop will be in Ontario. Glad to see your posts again.
God bless.
Welcome back hope all is well. TD.
Don't worry folks we'll get Claudia accustomed to Chester County PA. We don't have those big wide open spaces of Wyoming and ND but than again Claudia lives in a whitetail mecca. I'm sure she's already had to dodge whitetails pulling out of her neighborhood! Not exactly wild country whitetails, but whitetails just the same!
Tim
Welcome back... boy, time sure flies!
well im glad your back, when i first started coming to TG i enjoyed your post, then you up and dissapeared! Welcome back!
I was thinking I hadn't heard anything from you in a while. I've been on The Bowyer's Bench alot and recently started coming back to Powwow. I figured I'd just missed you.
Well, I did miss you! You can come hunt with me in Indiana sometime!
Bona
Claudia,
It's good to see you back and posting again. I've noticed not seeing any posts for you for quite some time now. I hope all is well with you. I've had to drop in draw weight, too. All of my bows are in the 45-47#@28" range. Any more than that and my right shoulder aches after about 10 shots.
May you have a wonderful day and the best of luck in finding that special hunting location. By the way, West Virginia has some pretty good deer hunting and there are four bowhunting only counties in the western part of the state just west and maybe a bit south of Beckley, WV.
Bill
Welcome Back Claudia,
I have read lots and lots of your posts, and they have always helped me a lot!
Cheers
J-F
Great to have you back Claudia! I've always enjoyed your posts....
It's good to see you back. Wish I could help out with a hunting spot or two but I'm over in North Jersey
Glad you're back. I'm looking forward to some of your entertaining stories!
Hmmmmmm, 95 posts and counting...... Yep, you were missed Claudia !!!
The other good thing about Chester County is that there are unlimited doe permits available @ 8 bucks a piece (no pun intended). Not to mention doe season runs from Mid Sept. to the end of Jan
Mike (Happy as a clam living in 5C) :archer:
welcome back :biglaugh:
I've always enjoyed reading you post. Looking forward to a story this fall!
CK
Good to have you back Claudia
Goodness....what a warm welcome back to the campfire!
Yes, I miss the wonderful openness of the West...the way the prairie grass shifts against the breeze, the suddenness of the vaulting mountains, the striking beauty of the afternoon sun reflecting across the endless emptiness. But as Tim and perhaps others have said, Chester County PA is much more of a wildlife mecca than most people would ever imagine. In fact, on my own suburban 1 acre lot, I have seen deer, red fox, squirrels, and rabbits. They all live as residents and in the shaddow of homes and businesses. They are as much a part of the landscape of the East as are the antelope and prairie dogs of the West.
Of course, too many deer in this setting can be a problem...but that's a good problem from my point of view:-) I'll see if I can do my part to help reduce the stress on PA's natural resources
:D .
Many thanks to you PA Tradgangers who have reached out to me and offered guidance and assistance in getting me started hunting in this area. It is so wonderful to be a part of a group whose commitment to traditional bowhunting is exceeded only by their generosity. I owe you a debt of gratitude.
Some of you have asked whether or not I'll be hunting pronghorns this year. Alas, I will miss this year, but will hopefully go again next year. However, I now have 9 points for a WY moose tag, so I may opt for that instead. Of course, I'll need to bump my bow weight back up before that trip!
As far as bow poundage goes, I am going to work my way back up very slowly so as not to damage anything. Right now, I am shooting 40# at my draw length of 27" and will probably stay around 40-44# for this season. With the right arrow and BH combo, high FOC, and short shots, this is a lethal combo for thin skinned game. When it comes to bow poundage, more is not always better :archer: .
That's it for now, my friends! Time for more coffee and to get on with the day!
Claudia it is great to see you back.
Welcome back Claudia. Great to see a familiar face round-here.
:wavey:
Welcome home, glad you are back.
Glad you're back Claudia!
Welcome back to the gang.
Now I know why it had seemed a little...bland...around here. ;)
Welcome back Claudia. Reading an article by someone else made me think of you and a hunt you posted a couple of years ago.
Billy
Greetings Pinecone!
Welcome back!
I see that you have migrated towards the east.
Stay cool!
Shoot straight, Shinken
:archer2:
I hunted the Spearhead ranch last year(awesome place!) and saw your picture posted on the walls with many fine animals. I didn't know that you were a Tradgang member. Welcome back!!!
Hi Claudia! I guess I'm new to TG since you've been gone, but it's nice to make your acquaintance! In my searching around the 'net for trad archery articles, I've come across some of yours and enjoyed reading them.
I work in KOP just outside of Valley Forge park... too bad we can't archery hunt in there!
We missed you!
Welcome Back Claudia. I have enjoyed reading your articles that were on here. Hope that all is going well for you.
