does anyone know is there grass carp in sw pa lakes or they all the bottom feeding kind i hear you can eat the grass carp.
You can eat the other kind too. Ihave smoked the smaller ones and they are delicious. Just make sure you remove all the brown areas on the fillets first. You can also chunk it up, put a teaspoon of salt and the chunks in canning jars adding no liquid, then pressure can and you have a product very similar to tuna fish!
Grass carp are not bottom feeders but mostly specialize on certain types of grass, but they will take small insects and other things from time to time.
Grass carp are probably 1 of the best eating carp I have tried, although I usually do not eat carp, just not my thing, but if I had to I would prefer a grassie!
