Post by: b44mag on July 25, 2011, 12:50:00 AM
i ordered the 8gpi tubes today from 3rivers for my gold tip xp hunters. they were to light for my bow @55 pounds they fly good but was reading the gpp on here and thought i better make them over 550 so not to mess my bow up hope they dont mess with arrow flight. any of you guys use the 8 gpi tubes any arrow flight changes

I used the 5 gpi tubes for about the past 6 months. They flew pretty good.. However, based on reading a lot of stuff on here I decided to add the weight to the point of the arrow for better flight and FOC, etc.

I was skeptical. So I took 3 of arrows and took the weight tubes out of them, and added 100 grain brass inserts. Then I took 3 more arrows, LEFT the tubes IN and added the 100 grain brass inserts. Finally, my last 3 arrows were the arrows I had been shooting for 6 months. I then shot all of these arrows for about a week and noted accuracy, sound, flight, etc.

I found that the arrows WITHOUT the weight tubes, and JUST the brass inserts were the most accurate, consistent arrows of the lot.

Like I said, they will probably fly great for you. But the arrows might fly even better with the weight on the front of the arrow. Give it a shot.

This is a cool idea haven't tried it because I am a wood shooter. I have been thinking about trying carbons. Found this site awhile back give it a look
