The other day I posted some shots I took with my 50# Treadway Black Forest. I tried carbons but they wouldn't group so I tried some 2018's I had in my quiver just to see what they would do. I wasn't expecting much. About a 4 inch group at 28 yards. Yesterday I went to the range and shot a 6" group at 40. I stopped and picked up some 2016's and some 145 points. I fletched them up and they shoot even better! Is this unusual? I'm thinking aluminum is the way to go. Maybe I should pick up a few woodies?
Sounds like they're shootin' good for you, don't stop now. Enjoy! :archer2:
6 inches at 40 yards. Wow!
I am happy shooting 6" at 20 yards.
That is impressive.
Groups max 6"@40 yards is monster. Whatever it is, I'd keep doing it.
I don't think I would change anything. :archer2:
Ya might want to just stick with it for the heck of it...LOL... Good shooting
Backwards, forwards, whatever.Who cares when shooting 6" at 40.Looks like you are dialed in to me.Keep shooting!
:clapper: :clapper: :deadhorse:
I can't even see 40 yards!
Honestly, I don't want to BS anybody, I am not that good of a shot. I was as shocked as anybody. Treadway makes a hell of a bow. I have spent double on bows that shot patterns not groups at that distance. I guess my question should be is this unusual for aluminum to shoot better than carbon?
Aluminums when they are spined right for the archer will perform great, they are also in some cases straighter than the average carbon arrow so yes it is possible.
It is that you hit on the right arrow combo for that bow, good woodies and good carbons will shoot as well as aluminum. You just have to fnd the right combination of length and point weight, giving you the right spine the bow likes. I myself do not like aluminum as they are not as durable as even wood and make that funny ping when shot. Nothin wrong with them but I love my carbon arrows. Shawn
I can hit a barn at 40yds.2 out of 4 times! If it works use it.
Record everything you can about that setup..in detail.
Type/length/material/strand of string, shelf material, brace ht, your draw length, exact arrow specs..(buy more), nock ht..EVERYTHING!!
Darn good shooting!!! :saywhat:
HA! I just looked up your profile..guess what you have in the classies..
lol

If you are shooting that well, keep the set-up as is and head to the traditional nationals next year! Seriously.... wow!
I have had some good days, but not that good. Keep it up.

Things start turning into a blur at 30 yards so I stop at 20.
Were your carbons tuned to your bow?
